I am a licensed clinical social worker in Arlington, Virginia, who works with couples and individual adults of various ages who are residents of Virginia or Arizona. I draw from both professional and personal experience to provide quality teletherapy services for multiple issues, but specialize in the treatment of anxiety and compulsive pornography use. I primarily utilize the theoretical and conceptual frameworks of mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Therapy sessions will vary according to the needs and desires of the client, but typically will involve brief periods of meditation to help acheive greater calm and focus and may also involve learning healthy coping strategies and skills. Therapy will also involve looking at thoughts, beliefs and choices, identifying what is and is not working, and shifting clients toward healthier practices. Typically, there will also be opportunities for clients to expand their knowledge, insight and skillsets between sessions.
My style is relaxed, present, and non-judgmental. When clients first start therapy, I will provide a safe and comfortable environment where they feel heard and validated.
I have worked more than 16 years in the behavioral health field and more than 11 years in the provision of therapy services. I received my MSW from Brigham Young University. Prior to starting in private practice, I worked at ChangePoint Integrated Health in northeastern Arizona for nine years, providing both inpatient and outpatient therapy services. Outside of private practice, I enjoy visiting national parks and other places of peace and beauty, and am passionate about social justice. I offer only online therapy sessions at this time.
