Treatment Approach

  • Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Eclectic Therapy Draws from different therapeutic methods based on what fits each client best. It is flexible and personalized rather than following one single model.
  • Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
  • Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) A short-term approach focused on improving relationships and social support. It is often used for depression and grief.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
  • Psychoanalytic Therapy Based on Freud’s theories, it explores unconscious conflicts and past experiences. It seeks to bring hidden issues into awareness.
  • Social Learning Therapy Based on the idea that people learn behaviors by observing others. It applies modeling and reinforcement to encourage healthy change.
Approach Description: From a very young age I knew I wanted to help people. This led to my life long pursuit of education. For over 25 years I have worked with individuals who have chosen to actively grow, who have pushed beyond the anxiety that accompanies mindful growth. I will help you figure out why, and how, you are making the choices you have made and help you to improve the process. I’ll assist you to understand where those decisions stem from and help you to determine whether those same choices are serving you well today or if they need to be reevaluated now. You will learn to trust yourself more fully, gain confidence and insight into who you are. I will accompany and guide you along this journey.

Dr. Evelyn Comber Practice Description
If you need help in figuring out why, and how, you make the choices you make I can help. Need assistance addressing an issue? I can help. If you're kinky, I can help. I understand the various structures and dynamics of power exchange. I am skilled at deciphering between healthy and unhealthy processes and relationships. If you are transitioning, I can help you reach your goals. If you are a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, I can help. If I am not the right person for you, I can help find the person that fits. I have helped people deal with a wide variety of personal challenges throughout twenty-five years. Sometimes, it isn’t so defined as “I have an issue with X” but rather it’s more like a nagging feeling of something being “not quite right” or just wanting to get an outsider’s perspective on what is happening. If you feel that way, sort of unsure, that’s okay - come and visit with me. If you don’t need therapy I will tell you that. If I am not the right person for you, I will help you find your therapist. More specifically, I deal with: *Individuals growing, exploring and becoming increasingly aware of their potential *Couples facing challenges to trust, communication and honesty in their relationships *Kink, poly, and alternative lifestyles dealing with vanilla & kink problems *Helping transitioning individual's in all aspects of the journey *People in the recovery process of childhood sexual abuse
