Treatment Approach
- Biofeedback / Neurofeedback Teaches people to control body or brain activity using real-time monitoring. It’s often used for stress, anxiety, ADHD, and migraines.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
- Gottman Method Couples Therapy Based on decades of research, this method gives couples tools to improve communication, manage conflict, and strengthen intimacy.
- Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) A short-term approach focused on improving relationships and social support. It is often used for depression and grief.
- Multicultural Therapy Acknowledges the role of culture, race, and identity in mental health. It values diversity and adapts treatment to each person’s background.
- Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
Approach Description: Therapy with me is a collaborative process: practical, compassionate, and centered on what matters most to you. I believe people are doing the best they can—and that meaningful, lasting change becomes possible when we work in alignment with your values.
I draw from a range of evidence-based modalities—including client-centered, cognitive behavioral, interpersonal process, solution-focused, and Gottman-informed approaches—to tailor therapy to your unique needs and identity. Whether you're feeling stretched thin by stress, navigating burnout or perfectionism, questioning your identity, or struggling in your relationships or career, we’ll explore what’s been holding you back and work toward a life that feels more joyful, intentional, and self-honoring.
You can expect honest feedback, a dose of humor, flexible challenges, and plenty of empathy. Some sessions might focus on untangling patterns; others on building coping tools or practicing new ways of showing up in your relationships. I also bring a culturally responsive, trauma-informed lens to the work. We'll follow your pace while gently stretching toward growth.
My goal is for you to leave each session feeling affirmed, equipped, and more aligned with yourself and your goals. Most clients meet weekly or biweekly to build momentum and stay accountable—and many feel a sense of relief after just one session.

Welcome to The Momentum Practice!
I’m Dr. Megan Marks, a licensed psychologist with over 15 years of experience helping people who look like they have it all together—but feel anything but. My practice specializes in working with high-achieving adults, neurodivergent adults (especially those with ADHD), and individuals navigating anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, life transitions, or relationship challenges. Whether you're questioning your career, recovering from people-pleasing, or feeling overwhelmed by your own high standards, you don’t have to untangle it all alone.
Therapy at The Momentum Practice is a collaborative, affirming space grounded in insight, growth, and real-world strategies—not just nodding and taking notes. You’ll find a practice that centers LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent identities and honors the impact of systems, culture, and early life experiences on your current struggles. My work is rooted in a strong commitment to trauma-informed, culturally responsive care and social justice values.
My therapy style blends warmth, directness, humor, and depth. You can expect practical tools, honest reflections, and an approach that’s both culturally responsive and trauma-informed—one that respects your full self. This is a space to grow, rest, unmask, and reconnect—with your values, your voice, and your joyful self. I draw from a range of evidence-based modalities—client-centered, CBT, interpersonal process, solution-focused, and Gottman-informed approaches—while tailoring the process to your unique values, strengths, and lived experience.
Clients often tell me that therapy here feels spacious but active. Some sessions might focus on untangling patterns; others on building coping tools, navigating hard conversations, or practicing new ways of showing up in your life. If needed, I also offer extended-length sessions for individuals or couples who want more room to go deeper during a particularly hard or busy season.
I also offer ADHD assessments designed to be time-efficient, accessible, and medication-provider friendly. Whether you’re exploring a possible diagnosis or seeking clarity about how your brain works, we’ll take an integrative, person-centered approach to understanding your experience.
For those outside of Lexington—or those who prefer the comfort of home—I offer confidential telehealth services through SimplePractice, a secure electronic health record platform.
If you’re local and able to meet in person, you’ll also have access to our optional relaxation room—a calming space with aromatherapy, mindfulness tools, relaxing music, a back massager, and biofeedback/virtual reality supports. Many clients use it before or after session to slow down, reset, and feel more centered.
At The Momentum Practice, we move at your pace—but we do move. Together, we’ll focus on building momentum that’s meaningful, sustainable, and aligned with who you are—not just what you’ve been trained to be. If you’re ready to feel more connected, more whole, and more alive—not just functioning, but thriving—I’d be honored to support you on that journey.
