Elissaveta Iordanova Practice Description
I offer individual, couple, family and group sessions. In the process of creating a meaningful, clients-centered therapy, personal difficulties will be addressed. Relationship to self, others (family, peers), issues such as stress, depression, fear, anxiety, life transitions, loss/grief, academic or creative/artist's challenges, all will be re-evaluated in order to discover new meaningful ways of coping. In my sessions, I use not only conventional verbal therapy, but engage the client in body-mind activities such as breathing, guided imagery, gentle movement, dance,, when it is appropriate, creative writing and collage making. The various activities help the body-mind agency to address the pressing issues from a creative expression angle, rather than from only an intellectual thinking/talking perspective. The integrative approach of using movement, imagery, visualization and verbalization can develop from simple to a more complex "being in the experience" moments. These moments can be guided and structured by me or completely self-directed when the therapy progresses. Why movement? Because movement involves your body, mind and spirit, because you Are when you move, create and express.
