Hi there! I believe therapy doesn’t have to last forever. People often seek support during pivotal moments in life when challenges feel overwhelming, and they’re ready for change. My goal is to help you develop the skills and confidence to become your own therapist, equipping you to navigate life’s ups and downs long after our work together ends. To achieve this, I use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), and Schema Therapy.

Approach Description: My Approach to Therapy
I base my therapeutic approach on two key principles:
Using evidence-based models that have been proven effective.
Empowering clients to become their own therapists, equipping them with tools to navigate life’s challenges long after therapy concludes.
With this foundation, I primarily work through a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) lens, integrating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Schema Therapy to tailor treatment to each client’s needs. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR).
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
A cornerstone of ACT is values exploration. My work often begins by helping clients identify their core values and discover how to align their lives with these principles. Personally, I draw on my values of perseverance, genuineness, advocacy, and love to model authenticity and offer unwavering support throughout the therapeutic process. This alignment with values fosters resilience and purpose, even during the challenges of therapy.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
DBT is grounded in the belief that everyone is doing their best with the tools they’ve been given—and when struggles arise, it’s often because those tools were insufficient. I find great fulfillment in teaching practical skills to help clients regulate emotions, improve daily effectiveness, and advocate for their needs.
Schema Therapy
While values exploration and skill-building drive behavioral changes, schema therapy delves deeper into the underlying beliefs (schemas) formed during childhood due to unmet emotional needs. By identifying core schemas and recognizing when they’re triggered, clients can make conscious choices aligned with their values, rather than defaulting to old patterns that no longer serve them.
Cultural Humility
From our first session, I prioritize understanding the many layers of my clients’ cultural identities. I am keenly aware that first impressions may paint me as a White, well-educated woman from a privileged background. What clients may not see immediately is that I am Mexican American and Jewish. This contrast between how I’m perceived and how I see myself serves as a powerful reminder of the complexity in all of us. I understand how these dynamics impact the therapeutic relationship, and I strive to create a space where clients feel seen, heard, and valued. I take the time to explore their unique backgrounds and self-perceptions, fostering a partnership rooted in trust and mutual respect.

Eating Disorders and Body Image Concerns
I have extensive experience in treating and preventing eating disorders. My postdoctoral residency was at Kaiser Permanente in Walnut Creek, where I worked in the Adult and Teen Eating Disorder Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). I’ve also provided care at Temple University and the Berkeley Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Clinic. My approach is rooted in the principles of Health at Every Size (HAES®), and I utilize evidence-based modalities, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Family-Based Therapy (FBT).
Chronic Illness
With training in Health Psychology, I’m passionate about the mind-body connection and helping clients with chronic illnesses live fulfilling lives. My experience includes serving as a Behavioral Medicine Consultant in primary care and supporting individuals managing conditions like Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and other gastrointestinal disorders. I currently facilitate a 6-week Better Living with Illness group, where participants gain support from peers and learn evidence-based skills rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to align their lives more closely with their values.
Dating and Relationships
Let’s face it—dating and relationships can be challenging! As a clinical psychologist, I offer a unique skill set to help you navigate these complexities. Whether you’re seeking a partner, addressing conflicts in relationships, managing social anxiety, or learning to advocate for your needs, I’m here to support you. I use a schema therapy-based approach to uncover unmet needs from childhood that may be impacting your present relationships. Together, we’ll challenge limiting beliefs and empower you to make meaningful changes. I also plan to start a Dating and Relationships group in the future—please reach out if this interests you!
Other Areas of Expertise
While these are some of my key specialties, I have also worked with a broad range of clients and concerns. My areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, grief, COVID-19-related stress and loss, spirituality and religion, life transitions, adjustment challenges, assertiveness, and mood disorders. If you’re unsure whether I can help, I encourage you to schedule a free 15-minute consultation. If I’m not the right fit, I’ll gladly assist you in finding someone who is.
