Life can feel overwhelming when you're juggling the demands of work, relationships, caregiving, leadership, and everything in between. I work with adults who are seeking greater balance, self-understanding, and fulfillment as they navigate anxiety, stress, burnout, depression, life transitions, and relationship challenges. My goal is to provide a supportive, collaborative space where you can gain insight, build resilience, and create meaningful change that extends beyond the therapy room.

Treatment Approach

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
  • Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) A short-term approach focused on improving relationships and social support. It is often used for depression and grief.
  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Combines mindfulness practices with CBT to prevent depression relapse. It helps people notice thoughts without judgment and respond more calmly.
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
Approach Description: I view therapy as a collaborative process built on trust, curiosity, and mutual respect. My role is to work alongside you in understanding your experiences, clarifying your goals, and helping you develop the skills and insights needed to move forward with greater confidence and intention. My approach integrates evidence-based therapies including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). These approaches help clients better understand the relationship between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while developing practical tools to manage challenges more effectively. Depending on your goals, our work may focus on building coping skills, increasing emotional awareness, improving relationships, reducing anxiety, navigating life transitions, or identifying patterns that may be keeping you stuck. At the heart of my work is the belief that meaningful change occurs when people learn to respond to life's challenges with greater flexibility, self-awareness, and alignment with their values. Rather than striving for perfection or trying to eliminate every difficult emotion, I help clients develop the ability to navigate challenges more effectively while creating a life that feels purposeful and authentic. I strive to create a therapeutic environment that is warm, supportive, and encouraging while also helping clients challenge themselves in ways that promote growth. Therapy should be a place where you feel heard and understood, but also empowered to take meaningful action toward the life you want to build. My goal is to help you leave sessions not only with greater insight, but with practical tools and a clearer path forward.

Janelle Westfall Practice Description
With nearly 30 years of experience in behavioral health, I am passionate about helping adults navigate life's challenges while building a more meaningful and satisfying relationship with themselves and others. As a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board Certified Behavior Analyst, I bring both extensive clinical experience and a practical, solution-focused perspective to the therapy process. I work with adults facing anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, life transitions, relationship concerns, and the pressures that often accompany leadership roles, caregiving responsibilities, and high achievement. Many of my clients are accustomed to being the person others depend on, yet find themselves feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, exhausted, or uncertain about how to move forward. Others come to therapy because they feel stuck in patterns that no longer serve them and are looking for a space to better understand themselves and create lasting change. I believe that therapy is most effective when it balances insight with action. Together, we will explore the factors contributing to your current challenges, identify strengths and resources you may already possess, and develop practical strategies to help you navigate life more effectively. My goal is not simply to reduce symptoms, but to help clients cultivate greater self-awareness, emotional resilience, and a stronger sense of purpose and fulfillment. Whether you are navigating a major life transition, feeling overwhelmed by stress, working through anxiety or depression, or simply seeking greater clarity and growth, I aim to provide a warm, supportive, and collaborative environment where meaningful change can occur. Outside of my clinical work, I enjoy endurance cycling, running, spending time outdoors, and making memories with my husband and two daughters. These experiences continue to reinforce my belief that growth, resilience, and well-being are built through intentional effort, meaningful relationships, and staying connected to what matters most.
