What makes my practice different is simple: you are never just a diagnosis or a checklist to me. I take the time to truly get to know you, your story, and what healing looks like for you specifically, because no two people's journeys are the same. If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or like you're carrying more than you can hold on your own, this is your sign to reach out. You don't have to have it all figured out before you contact me. Treatment Approach

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Art Therapy Uses creative activities like drawing, painting, or sculpture as a way to express emotions. It is especially helpful when words are hard to find.
  • Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) Builds skills in self-kindness and compassion toward others. It is especially helpful for people who struggle with shame or self-criticism.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
  • Experiential Therapy Involves hands-on activities to bring emotions into the present moment. It helps clients process feelings more deeply than through conversation alone.
  • Family Systems Therapy Looks at problems within the context of the family as a whole. It aims to improve communication and balance in family relationships.
  • Feminist Therapy Addresses how gender roles, power, and social inequality affect mental health. It empowers clients to challenge limiting beliefs and systems.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Combines mindfulness practices with CBT to prevent depression relapse. It helps people notice thoughts without judgment and respond more calmly.
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) A collaborative, client-centered approach that strengthens motivation for change. It is especially effective for addictions and health behaviors.
  • Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
  • Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
Approach Description: I believe in creating a safe and non-judgmental space where you can show up exactly as you are. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, I see each client as an individual with their own story, their own needs, and their own pace. Rapport comes first for me, because real growth happens when you feel truly heard and understood. I draw from a range of therapeutic modalities and shape them around who you are, rather than asking you to fit into a single method. Your needs guide the direction we take together, and that flexibility is what allows the work to feel personal instead of formulaic.

Mary Practice Description
At Ripple Therapy, I work with older teens and young adults navigating self-esteem struggles, anxiety, relationship challenges with peers, family, and romantic partners, and the many transitions that come with this stage of life. My approach is rooted in building genuine rapport and viewing each client as an individual with their own story, rather than fitting anyone into a one-size-fits-all treatment plan. I create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can be honest about what you're going through, and we move at a pace that feels right for you, never rushed, never on a timeline. I hold a Master of Social Work with advanced training in animal-assisted therapy. Before opening my private practice, I spent time in community mental health and group practice settings, which shaped how much I value connection and genuinely getting to know the people I work with. I'm licensed in both Colorado and California, so I'm able to offer virtual sessions to clients in either state. Many of my clients describe our sessions as feeling like a conversation with a friend, one where, looking back, they realize just how much growth has happened along the way. If you're ready to feel heard and start moving toward the life you want, I'd love to connect with you.
