Dr. Maxwell Rappoport (He/Him)

Psychologist, Ph.D.
 therapist: Dr. Maxwell Rappoport,
California (Online Only)
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and my goal is to make that step feel safe, supportive, and worthwhile. I’m a clinical psychologist who believes the best progress happens when therapy feels like a productive relationship—built on trust, openness, and collaboration. I bring creativity, empathy, and a down-to-earth style to our work, tailoring each session to fit who you are and what you need most. Clients often tell me they feel at ease with me quickly, which makes it easier to explore challenges honestly and discover new ways forward. Whether you’re struggling with stress, anxiety, relationship issues, want to perform better, or are just feeling stuck, I’ll work with you to create a personalized plan that helps you gain clarity, confidence, and momentum in your life. If you’re looking for a therapist who listens deeply, adapts flexibly, and partners with you every step of the way, I’d love to connect and see if we’re a good fit.

Treatment Approach

  • Biopsychosocial Therapy Takes into account biological, psychological, and social factors in understanding mental health. It looks at the whole person, not just symptoms.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
  • Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Combines mindfulness practices with CBT to prevent depression relapse. It helps people notice thoughts without judgment and respond more calmly.
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) A collaborative, client-centered approach that strengthens motivation for change. It is especially effective for addictions and health behaviors.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.

Dr. Maxwell Rappoport Practice Description
I am a licensed clinical psychologist offering therapy exclusively through telehealth, making it easy and convenient to access care from wherever you are in California. I work with young adults through older adults, tailoring treatment to each client’s unique needs and goals. My areas of focus include anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, sports and performance concerns, and substance use issues. Sessions are 45–50 minutes in length and are scheduled flexibly—ranging from weekly to once monthly or every six weeks—depending on what best supports your progress and circumstances. As an out-of-network provider, I do not bill insurance directly, but I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. My approach is collaborative, empathetic, and client-centered, with the goal of helping you feel supported while working toward meaningful, lasting change.
