Treatment Approach

  • Art Therapy Uses creative activities like drawing, painting, or sculpture as a way to express emotions. It is especially helpful when words are hard to find.
  • Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
  • Biopsychosocial Therapy Takes into account biological, psychological, and social factors in understanding mental health. It looks at the whole person, not just symptoms.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Dance / Movement Therapy Uses movement and body awareness to express emotions and improve mental health. It can increase confidence, reduce stress, and support healing.
  • Eclectic Therapy Draws from different therapeutic methods based on what fits each client best. It is flexible and personalized rather than following one single model.
  • Experiential Therapy Involves hands-on activities to bring emotions into the present moment. It helps clients process feelings more deeply than through conversation alone.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) A structured therapy that uses guided eye movements to help process traumatic memories. It is widely recognized for treating PTSD and trauma-related conditions.
  • Family Systems Therapy Looks at problems within the context of the family as a whole. It aims to improve communication and balance in family relationships.
  • Feminist Therapy Addresses how gender roles, power, and social inequality affect mental health. It empowers clients to challenge limiting beliefs and systems.
  • Hypnotherapy Uses guided relaxation and focus to access the subconscious mind. It is often used for habits, anxiety, and pain management.
  • Imago Relationship Therapy Helps couples understand how childhood experiences influence adult relationships. It teaches communication techniques to deepen connection.
  • Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
  • Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
  • Psychoeducational Therapy Provides education and coping tools about mental health conditions. It empowers clients with knowledge and practical skills.
  • Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.

Sumer Statler Aeed Practice Description
I am passionate about helping people to transform their lives into living the life they are meant to have. I work with individuals, couples and groups and specialize in helping people create secure, strong, loving relationships with themselves and others. With 21 years of experience, I have an eclectic approach that allows me to work with you in determining which direction and which path works best to get you to where you want to be. I believe change involves collaboration, creativity, and hard work. Growth is hard but I find most of us have been doing hard anyway, this is growth that frees you and takes you to where you most want to be. I work in a number of ways to get people where they want to be. This may involve Cognitive Behavioral Work and more straightforward tried and true therapy methods like talk therapy or could use integrating more eclectic approaches such as hypnosis, experiential, somatic or equine work. I love my field in that is allows us to have a vast diversity of ways to help people to heal and move forward to passionate healthy full lives. I came to the field of psychology through walking my own healing path. I have worked with individuals, couples, families, groups and companies for over 18 years helping people realize true transformations. I don't believe the change happens in my office but what you do outside of the office that truly makes a difference. I believe in working with you to create a unique toolbox of specific tools that allow you to both understand and be able to carry out whatever your next steps toward change may be. Real change takes courage, flexibility, work, and support. Know that it is fully possible and that you deserve to live nothing less than a grand adventure in your life.
