Art Therapist, Human Givens Practitioner (HG.Dip.P), Member of Human Givens Institute, IFS therapist Levels 1&2, Narm Practitioner
I have been working online with remote distant clients since 2010. As soon as the Corona Virus lockdown hit us, I transferred all my existing clients to video conferencing, using a professional and secure telemedical package. Contact me here to discuss how we can work together to help you. I only charge per individual session: perhaps one or two sessions would be sufficient to get you back on track, or perhaps you would prefer longer support. There is not a one size fits all approach, but I promise to work together with you compassionately and non-judgementally to address what is getting in the way for you today.

Some of the benefits of seeing a therapist online are that this will give you the opportunity to access support in a location and at a time that is convenient to you and you may be able to access therapy more quickly this way. As counsellors are trained to observe your body language, voice tone and other non verbal cues, including eye contact there may be the need for me to clarify certain points with you if we are working remotely ( particularly if this is over the telephone) We would use either zoom or whatsapp for our video calls. I will send you the hyperlink to download onto your device. There will also be a password to allow you access to a secure, encrypted online meeting room. You are responsible for maintaining confidentiality while we are working together including ensuring that the hardware for your device, internet access points, email address and passwords are secure. I will call you at the time that we have agreed and encourage you to ensure that the space that you are in is a place where you feel safe, comfortable and your privacy is maintained. Some things for you to ask yourself prior to working with a therapist remotely might be how comfortable are you with using internet technology? Is there a device you can use in private with no interruptions? It is also worth considering whether the situation that you are seeking counselling for may be easier for you to discuss face to face?

With technology, you can experience all the benefits of in-person therapy on secure, easy-to-use, high-quality internet platforms. Online sessions allow you to do therapy in the comfort of your own home or allow you flexibility in environments that best suit you. It can be especially helpful to those who find it challenging to travel to an office for appointments due to location, work, children at home, lifestyle, or other practical or personal reasons. While there are multiple ways that counseling can take place online, I work primarily with face-to-face video conferencing via Zoom and, on occasion, telephone sessions. I always hold my sessions in a quiet and confidential space, giving you the same confidentiality & professionalism that you experience within an office setting. Most, if not all, of my clients, find virtual sessions to be highly effective and convenient. They allow for the comfort and safety of therapy in your own space, and no travel time is often less vulnerable than needing to go to an office. Research of multiple studies finds that online therapy is equally effective as in-person for most cases. That being said I always advocate for what works best for each individual and it is wonderful to have choices to find your best path whichever that may be. If you are not super-computer savvy or are anxious about how to use technology, I will work to make it as seamless as possible. I have chosen a platform that is easy to use and I am happy to assist you with any questions or concerns. A common concern I hear from clients regarding online therapy is finding a quiet and/or confidential space when you’re homebound with children and/or family members or roommates. Be sure and scope this out in advance so you are guaranteed quiet and privacy during your session. Since it is so convenient many times people forget to allow themselves a few minutes to "switch hats" and allow themselves a few breaths and get settled into being present and in the head/body space for your session. Headphones or Airpods can often make audio clearer or ensure more privacy but are not necessary. Given that video sessions can be conducted on your smartphone, clients have found it helpful to go to a park, sit in their car in the driveway, and/or walk around your neighborhood. Get creative and support yourself. Find a private space that allows you to receive support no matter where you are. You are welcome to have pets join your space if you find that comforting, and supporting, and you may see my fellow feline/canine therapists join in one of our sessions on my end.

Chatting over tea about your relationships can be so very illuminating. Relationships are such a rewarding part of our lives, yet who hasn’t experienced annoyances when your relationship is not going well, Feelings of distress are common. We all try initially to sort out our problems ourselves, yet we are half of our relationship, it’s not easy to try new tools and styles. That’s where couples counselling can help. Offering help to quickly get to the core of your issues, and get started on a resolution that will ultimately lead you back to feeling in love and intimate again. Couples counselling is a very specialized field of therapy, and that is why tailoring sessions and approach is part of Therapy and Tea’s approach. Whether there’s been a critical incident in your relationship or your discontent has grown overtime, counselling can help. I have spent the last 20+ years helping many couples rediscover their happiness together after having lost their way, through effective relationship counselling. Most relationship issues can be reasonably resolved when you know how, but insight and guidance is very important.

Over the past few years online therapy has enabled a greater number of people to seek psychological support. If you are living in a remote area, where it is difficult or impossible to find a psychologist/psychotherapist; if these services are unaffordable where you live; or if you are in any way restricted in leaving your home in order to attend a face-to-face appointment, online therapy might be the right thing for you. I offer online consultations and on-going psychotherapy for individuals based anywhere in Europe (including the United Kingdom). I typically offer an initial meeting, or a set of appointments, in order to get to know you and your circumstances better. In some instances I might advise against online therapy - if you need adjacent psychiatric support; or the support of other healthcare professionals, which might necessitate a more integrated approach to your care and regular communication between those supporting you. If you are interested in accessing online therapy but you are still unsure whether it is the right thing for you - please get in touch so that we can discuss this together.
