My name is Tara and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) working with clients in California via Telehealth. I work with adults who have experienced trauma, chronic health issues, invisible illnesses, chronic pain, anxiety, and depression. I utilize an individualized and tailored approach drawing from my training in IFS, EMDR, CBT, and Somatic Art therapy. I hope to create a warm, authentic, and empowering environment for clients to express themselves freely and explore their inner landscape. Please do not hesitate to reach out for a free 15-minute telephone consultation to determine whether we may be a good fit for working together.

Treatment Approach
- Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
- Art Therapy Uses creative activities like drawing, painting, or sculpture as a way to express emotions. It is especially helpful when words are hard to find.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) A structured therapy that uses guided eye movements to help process traumatic memories. It is widely recognized for treating PTSD and trauma-related conditions.
- Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
- Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Combines mindfulness practices with CBT to prevent depression relapse. It helps people notice thoughts without judgment and respond more calmly.
- Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.

I believe in every person’s innate ability to heal, and I strive to support clients in cultivating and listening to their own wisdom to move through their challenges and achieve their goals. Knowing that we do not develop in a vacuum, I invite and encourage exploration of the socio-cultural and historical contexts that inform each individual’s unique experience.
The first session is about us building an initial connection and helping me gain a deeper understanding of what brings you to therapy and what you would like to accomplish. I will ask questions to engage you in an initial assessment so that we have a thorough understanding of the challenges you're experiencing as well as your strengths, resources, and relevant history. From there, we will collaborate to set some concrete goals so that we can track your progress and create a focus for our work together.
I have specialized training in working with adults to understand and heal the trauma that often surrounds chronic health conditions. Drawing from the latest pain science, I use evidence-based tools and approaches to support you in navigating the struggles of living with chronic illness and working towards changing your relationship with your pain and other symptoms. We will explore the intersections between chronic illness and a dysregulated nervous system, often resulting from traumatic or stressful experiences. We will practice concrete exercises for you to experiment with, both in and outside of sessions. I use Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, EMDR and expressive arts exercises to help you heal underlying challenges and gain deeper understanding of automatic patterns that may be keeping you feeling stuck.
