I am open to working with clients who are do not have clinical diagnosis of hoarding however those who are struggling with decluttering. Living in a home full of stuff (whether you place is big or small) can be a cause of both emotional and physical disorders. Many people get attached to things because of some kind of emotional defence mechanism, often it is connected to the feelings of security, self-esteem, confidence, fears, trust and other. One of such examples are people who had either dramatic events in their life or in one of the previous generations. In WWII years in Europe people had undergone very severe losses, it could be leaving a home suddenly going to evacuation or being deprived of property for whatever reason (e.g. “raskoolachivanie” in Russia). There are many reasons why people feel the need to keep things more accessive than it is reasonable to have. With the contemporary movement of minimalism and essentialism more and more people realize how liberating life without too many belonging can be, how much easier it is to keep emotional balance, clarity of mind and focus, be creative and feel a healthy energy flow. When you bring your place in order, much less time is needed to clean and bring things to order if they are organized in a good way. For decluttering requests I work with therapy, counseling and life coaching, depending on what is more appropriate for a certain client as well as their preference. In some cases therapy is highly recommended. On another note, if you are open to that, psychological astrology and locational astrology can give some insights into your character patterns and possible remediations and solutions. Usually at minimum 5 sessions are recommended, feel free to book a discovery consultation to see if we are a good fit to with with each other. Rates for sessions vary from $75 to $125 depending on the package and length of the session. I offer a sliding scale for the 1st session and when you take a package. As a special promo, discovery consultation in March 2023 is free of charge, it lasts 20-30 minutes.

Licensed Professional Counsellor, MPCC #3875, CT #2438, LSCC
Hoarding isn't about being messy or lazy—it's about trauma, loss, control, and the desperate need to hold onto something when everything else feels uncertain. You won't face judgment here, only compassionate understanding of what's really happening beneath the clutter. Together, we'll explore the trauma and fears driving the need to keep everything, help you regulate the anxiety that surfaces when letting go, and give you agency over your own pace of change. You'll learn to distinguish between the possessions and what they represent, reclaim your space without shame, and build stability that doesn't depend on things. Healing happens through acceptance, not force.

Do you sometimes struggle to let go of personal possessions even though on some level you know you should get rid of them? If so, do not worry, we have all dealt with our pain in various ways and hoarding is one of many behaviours that people engage in to fulfill a need or desire that is currently unmet. A large part of our work together will be to explore the history of the hoarding behaviour. When did it first begin? What was going on for you at the time? and additional factors that assist with better understanding your relationship to the hoarding behaviour. We will also explore the personal value that you attach to keeping personal items. If you are continuing to engage in this behaviour, it is probably serving you well in some way. Once clients understand the benefits of hoarding they view themselves through a nonjudgmental and compassionate lens, which is fundamental to the healing process. We will also explore the drawbacks of hoarding to help you understand what parts of your behaviour you feel comfortable to sustain and the areas in which you would like to see changes. Together we can devise a treatment plan that fits to your unique history, needs, and values.
