Rory Valentine Diller

Registered Psychotherapist, M.A., LMFT Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #139783
I run an inclusive, Person-Centered, Trauma-Informed group for male-identified survivors of childhood sexual abuse and sexual assault that supports growth, healing, and recovery in community with other survivors. Men often fear stigmatization and are reluctant to talk about past abuse experiences and sexual trauma with healthcare providers and supports, leaving them isolated and alone to carry the burden of what happened to them. This group was created for men to come together in solidarity and experience the truth; they are not alone in their survival. All men and gender non-conforming folx are welcome. I work with all genders of survivors in individual treatment as well.

Being a man myself, I understand a lot of what our gender struggles with. We are always told to be "tough", or "man up". We tend to bottle up our emotions because that is what means to be "manly". It is becoming increasingly difficult for a man to understand what his role is, with the world changing everyday. We can explore that together, and help you work through the stigmas associated with being a man.

Throughout our lives, we’re always thinking about not being "man enough." What does that even mean? Who sets these standards? Why are they set in stone, and why is the bar set so high that we all feel like we’re falling short? Maybe you need to ventilate, talk things out, brainstorm or even just admit that you don’t always know what to do. Or maybe you simply need to hear that what you’re going through is normal and that there are answers to your questions. Therapy gives you the opportunity to take up some space and talk it out with someone who isn’t going to judge you for it.

Living in a world drowning in toxic masculinity, white supremacy, and hyper-competitive capitalism has done so much damage to our ideas of what it means to be a man in the world today. Let's climb through the shame, anger, frustration, and despair to find a new story of what it means to be a man and how that could change your connections to others.
