Trauma may be something horrific or something that you tell yourself "it wasn't so bad, others have it worse." We often make light of the things that hurt or scared us or made us feel less than, however, your struggles matter just as much as anyone else's. When trauma is severe, we develop patters that you might call "PTSD"- patterns of fear, hopelessness, constantly being on edge, having to avoid so many things. Trauma is stored in our bodies and our bodies remember. But there is hope and help is available. Therapies like EMDR (which I am fully certified in) heal both the body and mind. Adding in other treatments like polyvagal based exercises or mindfulness can go even further. I have been through it myself and I know that transformation is possible.

Pre-Licensed Professional, Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (103346), Certified Yoga & Meditation Instructor
I have a great deal of experience and training in trauma-informed therapy. Most of my work has been with trauma populations; I work with clients to identify childhood traumas, as well as current issues. I use a psychodynamic, trauma-focused lens, and weave in somatic practices to address trauma and release traumatic energy trapped in the body-psyche.

Sometimes life is rough, sometimes you are the one who saw it, experienced it, or went through it. Most of these experiences we can think about, understand, and move on. But sometimes....there is that one ...(or more) which we can't just put down. It creeps into our dreams, it pushes into our heads when we drive by that spot, or look at that person who reminds us... It starts to take over our peace and impact our work, school, or relationships. When you have been through something hard that you cannot just let go and when you go home and others don't get it. It is time to reach out to someone who can help. It is possible to get this experience unstuck from your head, it is possible to turn things around. You can do things that you want to do rather than accepting that you are going to be damaged and struggle with certain things. You can let go of the anger, sleeplessness, and hypervigilance and connect with your family again and be happy. I offer four types of research-based therapies for trauma and PTSD: Prolonged Exposure (PE), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Eye Movement and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Trauma Focused: Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF: CBT)

Too many share the idea of PTSD/Trauma coming from some type of military involvement. This is true and yet not the only way we may experience trauma. Please dont discount it
