AAT is directed, delivered and documented by a licensed health/human service professional with a specific clinical goal for a particular individual in mind. An animal assisted therapist operates from a theoretical foundation and facilitates change in a client through the clients interactions with an animal. Animal Assisted Interventions operates from a cognitive behavioral approach utilizing canines to effectively assist in a clients journey through the stages of change.
