Ridgefield, Connecticut therapist: Kelley Hopkins-Alvarez, licensed professional counselor
Person-Centered

Kelley Hopkins-Alvarez

Licensed Professional Counselor, Couples & Sex Therapy, Discernment Counselor, Healing Separation, Co-Parenting, Non-Adversarial Divorce Support
My clients are couples and co-parents that are dealing with communication issues. I offer them a peaceful and private setting where we develop actionable small steps that they feel they can take to improve how they respond to the negative communication cycles and triggers they are experiencing. I help each of them to take ownership of changes that they each can make rather then blame their partner or co-parent. Please see my Services, Qualifications and Testimonials page on kelleyhopkinsalvarez.com to learn more. I also incorporate stress-reduction, mindfulness strategies in my work with you. I have trained with mindfulness masters Pema Chodron, Kristen Neff and Christopher Germer. Mindfulness helps you to regulate your emotions and lower your stress response, all which helps you to manage conflict and make better decisions in your relationship.I believe that when you continue to incorporate positive aspects into your life that you both can begin to "rewire" the ways in which you think and behave with each other. At times, it's necessary to some take some time to slow down and just take a breath, in doing so, blood pressure and heart rate lowers and you have more power to think clearly. My office is also very relaxing, which fosters a therapeutic feel, allowing you, the clients, to become more at ease to share what's most important to you. Take a look at my YouTube channel to learn more about my approach to work with you: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoGaGLogaG1b7dhJjOj5rOw I look forward to speaking with you to discuss what your needs are and how we can work collaboratively to develop a plan that works for you.
