Registered Psychotherapist, Dr, DPsych, MA Couns, MA Psych, PG Dip Spvn
Life Coaching is the latest fad found in training, within counselling/coaching these days. Personally i don't think it is an alliance of those two but rather an alliance between 'coaching and psychotherapy', because in counselling one must not offer advice or make suggestions other than look at options, counsellors are not to take responsibility for clients decision making, so altering a persons life decisions could be quite consequential for the worst, we are told. So for a life change in direction, It needs to come from the client, or it's not true counselling. Coaching is something else and a good coach needs the in depth training in psychotherapy experience and to comprehend the deep workings of the mind to make a significant improvement for the better and the client needs to be aware you have that extra wisdom that comes from the work as a psychotherapist and not as a simple counsellor.

Salford is a Greater Manchester city that has undergone one of England's most dramatic regenerations over the past two decades, with MediaCityUK—home to BBC North, ITV Studios, and major digital media employers—transforming Salford Quays while many inland neighbourhoods continue to face significant socioeconomic deprivation, creating a sharp mental health contrast between the creative waterfront economy and the persistent challenges of inner-city Salford. This divide shapes a mental health landscape that spans very different kinds of need—from creative industry burnout and precarious employment stress to long-term poverty, trauma, and the mental health effects of urban disinvestment. Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust provides services across the borough, and a private therapy sector is more accessible to those working in the media and tech sectors. Common therapy concerns include economic inequality, creative industry stress, anxiety, depression, and the complex relationship between Salford's ambitious regeneration narrative and the lived experience of communities it has not fully reached.
