Many of my clients have come to me to get over the loss of someone whether through breakup, divorce, or death. Even when loss isn't the primary reason for them seeking my help, it is often something impacting the issue at hand. In all cases I have been able to help my clients let go and move forward. In hypnosis, we can have people speak with someone who has passed on, whether it is to exchange some final goodbyes, get love and support, resolve some old dispute or trauma. I've had several clients who had trouble letting go after a breakup and we have managed to get them to move on. I had one female client who came to me for a variety of issues. She had been through a difficult divorce and Cancer diagnosis while raising 3 young children. Throughout her ordeal, she had received immense support from the priest at her church but he had passed away and she missed him immensely. In hypnosis, we visited his spirit and she was able to feel again his love and support and get his counsel. As another part of her treatment, we were able to converse with her late father who had abandoned the family when she was a child, and release the trauma that he had caused. Whether you believe in spirits or not, the experiences in hypnosis feel absolutely real and are able to bring peace and resolution.

Dr Jody Eiser
Therapist, Doctorate in Psychology
Grief is not something to be “fixed,” but something to be understood and carried in a way that feels more manageable over time. Through a trauma-informed lens and a focus on trauma endurance, I support individuals in navigating the emotional, relational, and identity shifts that often follow loss, allowing for integration rather than avoidance.

Carter Doyle
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, PMHNP-BC, EMT-P
Grief is not a problem to “fix.” It’s a set of waves we learn to ride. I help clients process losses related to death, divorce, estrangement, faith communities, and identity — the kinds of grief that don’t always get named. Using a steady, parts-informed, trauma-sensitive approach, we make room for sorrow while also rebuilding routines, connection, and meaning.

Honolulu's surface image as a paradise can obscure significant mental health challenges tied to Hawaii's extreme cost of living — among the highest in the United States — the stress of geographic isolation, and the psychological weight carried by Native Hawaiian communities navigating cultural loss and historical trauma. The city has a majority Asian and Pacific Islander population, including large Japanese, Filipino, and Native Hawaiian communities, and culturally competent therapists who understand Pacific Islander family values and collectivist systems are especially sought after. Tripler Army Medical Center serves the military population across the Pacific Command, while The Queen's Medical Center provides civilian institutional mental health resources. Therapist availability in Honolulu is lower relative to comparable mainland metros, and telehealth has become important for residents seeking specialist matching beyond what is available locally.
