Dr. Brian Sharpless
Psychologist, Ph.D., Clinical Psychology; M.A., Philosophy
Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a very treatable condition. However, it can be misdiagnosed for other disorders, and this can delay treatment gains. Following a thorough evaluation to establish BPD, I use one of three forms of contemporary psychodynamic therapy (i.e., Transference-Focused psychotherapy, Mentalization-Based Treatment, or Supportive Therapy) alone or in combination. All of these therapies have been tested in clinical trials. I have published professional works (e.g., articles; a book) on psychodynamic therapy. Please note that I do not do couple's therapy and that I will not schedule appointments intended for other people (e.g., spouses, family members). All potential patients must contact me directly.

Lincoln Park Psychology, Inc
Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Psychologists, LCPC, LPC, LCSW, LSW, CADC, AMFT
One of our practice owner's specialties is working with teens, and adults who struggle with features of Borderline Personality Disorder. Although we are not a practice that conducts very strict DBT therapy, components of DBT, along with relational and narrative therapy are used to reach our mutual goals. Many clients with BPD features struggle to see how they are affecting their environment and their own outcomes. Dr. Wax works closely through openness and a strong relationship to identify maladaptive thought, belief, and behavior patterns causing clients to feel lonely, isolated, and often like a square peg trying to fit into a round hole.
