Anger is a strong emotion and it usually gets triggered when we feel like we are being attacked. Hence, we tend to have a "fight or flight" response. When we react to anger too quickly, we may do something impulsively as we didn't think in advance. Hence, we may express anger inappropriately which can affect our relationship to people. I am specialized in helping people with anger issues. I use CBT and mindfulness to help clients identify anger-provoking triggers and teach them techniques to descale the tension.
I utilize mindfulness and acceptance based therapies to help clients slow down and feel more choice in how they respond to their anger, along with learning skills to self-soothe and ground themselves again. I also encourage clients to try to understand where their anger is coming from and identify ways to channel their anger into more productive choices to help them reach their goals.
In my practice, I utilize a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques to help clients identify and modify maladaptive thought patterns and behaviors contributing to anger issues. Additionally, I incorporate Accelerated Resolution Therapy to address underlying traumas or emotional triggers that fuel intense anger reactions. By integrating Mindfulness-Based approaches and Internal Family Systems (IFS) techniques, I support clients in developing self-awareness, emotional regulation skills, and healthier coping mechanisms to manage anger more effectively.
It is a particularly tough time in our shared world, and balancing that alongside our own inner and interpersonal challenges is enough to make anyone angry, so I use the validity of the anger many of us feel to remind clients that we can view this emotion from a non-judgmental place and debunk its deeper meaning through the development of emotional regulation skills.
For many years, I have offered an Anger Management Program for individuals, couples and groups-including some court-mandated clients. I offer free zoom workshops that provide techniques and approaches for controlling anger and channeling its potential energy for change in a constructive manner.
