Events that occurred years may affect us in the here and now, and sometimes we don’t even consciously recognize what caused these reactions in the first place. When you experience trauma, it’s as though that moment is frozen in time. In some ways it does, the trauma may get stuck in an unconcsious part of the brain but show itself in different ways, including various mental health issues. Our therapists provide trauma informed care, however, sometimes talking does not work with trauma or can even make it worse. That is why many of our therapists are trained in brain-based trauma intervention such EMDR, Brainspotting. These interventions allow for new neurological pathways to be formed and the trauma to be processed without the need to re-experience the events.
There are different types of trauma that can result from stressful events in our life. These events can lead to feelings of helplessness and anxiety. Through treatment of trauma, a client can develop skills and strategies to better understand, coping with and process emotions and memories associated with the experiences.
Trauma can change your life in an instant. Oftentimes with trauma choice has been taken away from you which can leave you feeling hopeless and in despair. In therapy, I will journey wit you through the experience of the trauma to help you identify your inner strength. There is a parallel story in your trauma of hope, resilience and strength. Through a solution focused therapy approach we will work to create the parallel story.

Trauma comes in many different forms. For some, it's a one time traumatic event, for others, it's a lifetime of chronic stress and trauma. Whatever the cause of your trauma and stress, I will work with you to process the event(s) that have caused you distress. We will then work together to learn natural, alternative ways to reduce your symptoms.
With extensive experience and training in both Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), I specialize in assisting clients facing various types of trauma. This area is one of my passions, and I am deeply committed to guiding individuals through their healing journey. In addition to evidence-based therapies, I frequently incorporate grounding techniques to help clients manage distressing symptoms and reconnect with the present moment.
