Depression is a common and serious mental health condition that affects millions of people worldwide. It is characterized by persistent low mood, loss of interest or pleasure, feelings of guilt or worthlessness, low energy, poor concentration, insomnia or hypersomnia, and sometimes suicidal thoughts or actions. In my work with depression, I follow the CBT-standard approach to therapy for depression: this is working with the cognitive distortions that accompany depression and working with behavioral strategies that help restore enjoyment and fullness to a person's life. In some situations, it may be useful to deepen the process of working with depression, after completing the first phase of work, after the symptoms of depression have decreased. This is because depression may have its roots in schemas such as "Emotional Deprivation", "Abandonment", "Defectiveness/Shame", "Pessimism/Negativism" and others. To prevent relapses of depression and improve a person's quality of life, it may be useful to continue working in the schema-therapy approach. Schema therapy is an integrative form of psychotherapy that combines elements of cognitive, behavioral, psychodynamic, and humanistic therapies. It aims to identify and change the deep-seated patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving that underlie chronic psychological problems. When I work with clinical depression, a mandatory condition for work is that the client takes antidepressants and is monitored by a psychiatrist. Antidepressants are medications that can help reduce the symptoms of depression and improve mood and functioning. They are prescribed by a qualified medical professional who can monitor their effects and adjust the dosage if needed.
