Gaye Mallinson - Somatic Psychotherapies

Counsellor/Therapist, B.Soc.Ser. (Couns) Dist, Dip. Couns, Trauma Informed Yoga Cert, Pranayama Cert, Nidra Cert
I work primarily from a Rogerian or Person-Centred Therapy (PCT) approach using a conversational style listening patiently to you, always with empathy, genuineness and without judgement, to help find the solutions you desire for your life whilst adjusting my techniques to fit your needs within each session. Due to my background in restorative justice, family violence, sexual abuse and mental health, I have a good understanding of family violence and relationship harm issues and how they impact the person experiencing them as well as the person using those behaviours. I am able to utilise a psycho-educational approach to help you understand your inner feelings and experiences, and to learn practical strategies for greater safety and coping. I can also utilise specific somatic (mind/body) therapy techniques within the therapy session to support healing of the underlying trauma of your experiences, without the need to discuss the details of the trauma. These gentle but effective techniques create a new positive sense of self, leaving often the carried sense of shame behind. My aim is to assist you with your difficulties to restore balance, happiness and inner peace (using the various techniques of 'talk therapy' and somatic (mind/body) healing methods) along with offering practical strategies that may be useful where suitable and desired by you. Whatever you are going through, know that there is hope - Let me help you find that hope.

I already spoke of domestic abuse on this site but with Covid-19 it surely has been on the increase the last few months. I am an]ble to help with anger management and to help the victims to deal with trauma and find a way out of the living hell they find themselves in, both male and female. Kangaroo Flat, Victoria therapist: Sebastian Kitchen, registered psychotherapist
Domestic Abuse

Sebastian Kitchen

Registered Psychotherapist, PACFA Registered Member 32932
Domestic Abuse is so damaging because it happens usually with someone we love and who we are deeply bonded to. Therefore it can be very difficult to get clarity on what is actually happening, what behaviour is okay and isn't, and what decisions need to be made. I work with you to understand the situations that you might be finding yourself in. I use resources specific to DV and helpful practical strategies so that you can establish physical safety and then, when the crisis period is over, do the emotional and reflective work to process your experiences.

Family violence work at LEXs centres on assessment, safety planning, and the long aftermath. I work with people currently navigating violence in their relationships, those who have recently left, and those carrying the legacy of growing up in households where violence was present. The work is paced to safety; it does not push for closure or insight before the conditions for either are in place. I work within scope and refer where specialist crisis or legal support is needed.
