Wonderful Mess
Counsellor/Therapist, Master of Social Work, Diploma of Counselling
Grief and loss is the topic I was the most scared of when I completed my counselling studies - having never been comfortable with bereavement. I wanted to complete this unit as soon as possible but thankfully, a friend advised taking my time through it. I am so grateful to that friend, as it was the unit that resonated the most with me among all my studies. I understood that the devastation I felt after my experience of workplace bullying and my car accident were linked to all the losses these incurred for me. This helped me to give myself the right to grieve everything I had lost, and to make space for everything that is now in my life. I aim to help all my clients open their eyes as to their own losses, not just what we usually acknowledge as losses in this society.

Registered Psychotherapist, PACFA Registered Member 32932
As Martin Prechtel says in Grief and Praise: 'If we do not praise whom we miss, we are ourselves in some way dead. So grief and praise make us alive.'
Dealing with a loss and grieving can be a very difficult process to engage in. It really can't be said that mainstream society does a good job of it. Grieving can look different for each person, and there is not set way to do it. Sometimes the process gets complicated by guilt, shame, judgement, fear or some other emotion that is stopping the grieving process.
Yet it can also be transformative. It can open us up to how much we actually love, and how beautiful the world is, and how grateful we can be for having been gifted the opportunity to have known someone or something. It can be a reminder of what is worth living for. On th

Adima Hawkes
Counsellor/Therapist, Psychotherapist, Spiritual Teacher, Gene Keys Guide, Trainer Tibetan Acupressure & Iridology
With a background of profound studies in the Tibetan BARDO, and quite a few experiences of accompanying the dying since my childhood and youth, I am experienced in holding space for people during times of grief. I offer both: company during the dying process to the dying person and company to the people remaining. Loss and grief are radical and deeply revealing teachers. Being in touch with the wounding and finding gentle and patient ways to breathe through this will open the door. There are in fact infinite doors into the light.
