Registered Social Worker, PhD Candidate (Mental Health), MSW, GradCertMH, DipPsych, MBA
I support couples with communication difficulties, disconnection, breaches of trust and the pressures affecting their relationship.
I use Gottman Method Couples Therapy, developed by clinical psychologists Dr John Gottman and Dr Julie Schwartz Gottman. It draws on more than 50 years of relationship research, and The Gottman Institute reports that the method has helped more than 100,000 couples.
We begin with a thorough assessment of your relationship, including questionnaires I provide at no extra cost. We then choose practical interventions to strengthen friendship, manage conflict and build shared meaning.
I have completed Level 1 and Level 2 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
Couples therapy starts with four assessment appointments: 90 minutes together, one 60-minute individual appointment with each partner, then 60 minutes together for feedback. Each partner completes relationship questionnaires separately and privately between the first joint appointment and their individual assessment appointment. Allow a couple of hours each. Relationship questionnaires included. No additional questionnaire fee.
First joint appointment: $345 for 90 minutes. Later appointments: $230 for 60 minutes.
The individual assessment appointments are part of couples work. Where individual work with one partner supports the couples work, I may offer it for a stated purpose and coordinate it with our joint sessions. Both partners need to know and agree, and I check this with each of you on your own. The same disclosure rule applies in both settings. Ongoing individual therapy, including trauma processing or EMDR, is considered case by case with my clinical supervisor.
