Dr Israel Berger
Counsellor/Therapist, MBBS, PGCert(Youth Mental Health), MPsych, PhD(Psych), CCTP
Psychosis can be scary, especially when you know there is something not right. It can also cause significant trauma. I have worked with people who have had a single episode and people who have had many over many years. I have also experienced mild psychotic symptoms myself with my depression. Everyone has a different experience, but I have some idea of what you may be going through. My aim is to help you recognise early warning signs, gain insight into your experiences, and help you improve function so that you can live your life despite psychosis. I help people who have experienced psychosis manage the distress that can accompany these experiences. I don't seek to change your beliefs but work with you to understand the core functions that beliefs have and that voices have for you. I seek to help you realise different ways of coping and understanding your experiences that can reduce distress and fear.
