Life Connections Autism Services

Counselor/Therapist, LBA
About Us. Welcome to Autism Services at LCC! As professionals in the field for over a decade, we understand how overwhelming an Autism diagnosis can be. Whether your child has recently been diagnosed or you’ve been navigating through this journey for a while, the options can feel endless and the process daunting. From the very first phone call, we strive to be a resource for you and your child. We serve the Knoxville and the Tri-cities area and provide services for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other related developmental disorders. All our programs are based on the principles and evidence-based practices of Applied Behavior Analysis. The spectrum of Autism and other developmental delays is quite extensive and each of our approaches are created to meet the needs of each individual child. We work one-on-one with your child at their pace to improve communication skills and guide challenging behavior, rewriting the story of what’s possible for their future. We are currently offering ABA services in-home, in-school, and in-clinic. We are working on offering social skills groups and parenting classes in the future to further meet the needs of our community. Visit our Support Groups page for more information. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), simply stated, is a research-based style of teaching and learning. It involves using techniques such as prompting, fading, shaping, and reinforcement of your child’s behavior. ABA can be used to teach a variety of skills, such as increasing language development, social skills, coping skills, and alternative behaviors in place of problem behaviors.

Have you ever been told when life gives you lemons make lemonade? Well, like most people unless you have a plan or a “recipe” then it is difficult to know where to start. I want to help you with tools and techniques to create your own “recipe” for the current journey you are on. First and foremost, I want to commend you for taking the first steps toward seeking treatment with finding a therapist. It took a lot of courage and inner strength to know your emotional health is the key ingredient to your “recipe” for balance in life. In my career spanning over 20 years, 12 of those years have been as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Mental Health Service Provider focusing on outpatient behavioral health. I like to inform clients, that like all humans, I am far from perfect even though I am on the other side of the desk with the answers and knowledge. This helps to build rapport and allows authentic and vulnerable conversations to occur through my nonjudgmental eyes, open minded thoughts, being a great listener, providing honesty, and direct feedback.

We will work together to help you make positive changes to your life—healthier, more stable, productive and fulfilling! With each of my clients, I work to build a relationship based in trust and authenticity where you can feel both safe and challenged—safe knowing you can talk openly and will be heard and understood, not judged, but also challenged to make the changes you want to make. Making those changes is more likely when you find a therapist who is empathetic—someone with whom you can connect and trust. Your full potential is always within reach and a therapeutic relationship based in sincere, empathetic, and authentic dialogue is healing. Call me today for a free, phone consultation and get started on a better and brighter present and future.
