Houston Center for Christian Counseling has counselors that work extensively with Obesity.  

This component will assist in reducing or eliminating abnormal appetite for food and the predisposition towards obesity or thus reducing or after bariatric surgery. This specialty also focuses on prevention and treatment of obesity-related problems, such as diabetes and respiratory problems.  

I've worked within bariatric surgery and outpatient mental health clinics which focus on preparation for weight loss surgeries as well as management of contributing factors including emotional eating and maladaptive coping. I ascribe to an approach which highlights addressing less adaptive food beliefs and healing one's relationship with their body, with food, and their experience of others.  

We work with individuals with overweight or obesity who are wanting to make healthy lifestyle changes. We have training in the most current, evidenced-based methods for behavioral weight loss, and also incorporate mindfulness and acceptance-based strategies. We also work with individuals pre- and post- weight loss surgery.
