Ryan Shannon
Counselor/Therapist, LMHCA, MA, MS
My experience supporting autistic people began in my first job at a summer camp for adults, many of whom were on the autism spectrum. I later worked closely with autistic children and adults as a psychometrist, including people with and without intellectual impairments. I continue to work with autistic clients in my therapy practice today.
Therapy may focus on anxiety, sensory overwhelm, emotional regulation, masking, communication, relationships, routines, burnout, or adjusting to life changes. You may understand what is expected of you socially but feel exhausted by constantly monitoring yourself, or you may struggle to communicate what you need when you become overwhelmed.
My approach is both insight-oriented and practical. Drawing from Adlerian and psychodynamic therapy, we may explore how past experiences, family roles, rejection, bullying, or repeated misunderstandings have shaped the way you view yourself and relate to others. We can distinguish between difficulties you would like to work on and differences that deserve acceptance, accommodation, and respect.
I may also use CBT to help you identify unhelpful beliefs, manage anxiety, and develop more flexible ways of responding to stressful situations. Mindfulness and emotional regulation strategies can help you recognize signs of overload earlier, while solution-focused work can help us identify practical changes to your routines, relationships, and environment.
When appropriate, we may develop gradual behavioral missions to help you practice communication, boundary-setting, flexibility, or navigating situations that currently feel intimidating. These challenges are collaborative and adjusted to your needs so that therapy does not become another environment where you feel pressured to perform or hide who you are.
My goal is not to make you appear less autistic. It is to help you understand yourself more fully, communicate your needs, reduce unnecessary distress, build meaningful relationships, and create a life that fits you. Please note that I currently provide therapy for autistic clients but do not conduct autism evaluations or provide autism diagnoses.

Psychologist, PhD, Licensed Psychologist
I have a passion for helping neurodivergent folks, helping them unmask and manage their social world and relationships - so that they can live more fulfilling, authentic, and happy lives. Early research on autism did not account for neurodivergence in those assigned female at birth, as well as racial and ethnic minorities. Many of my clients went undiagnosed until adulthood and are finally starting to understand some of the upsetting social interactions they've experienced, the rejection from peers, and the consistent messaging from society that something is inherently wrong with them.

Brian Jones
Licensed Mental Health Counselor, MEd, LMHC, LPC
If you have autism or think you might have autism, you may find that communication is hard with neurotypical people, including previous therapists. While I don't have autism (that I know of), I have worked with many clients with autism, and have received training in applying Internal Family Systems therapy for working with neurodivergent clients. I offer a therapeutic approach that is client-led and course-correcting, in case we ever have any miscommunication. Usually the work I do with autistic clients revolves around processing the ways their neurodivergence has affected their lives and relationships, and to notice the masks they put on to get by. Ultimately, what I care most about is you developing a more positive and trusting relationship with yourself.
