You may feel like your life has been turned upside down by addiction, broken trust, sexual behavior, or painful relationship experiences, and many people carry trauma connected to betrayal, emotional wounds, or sexual experiences that continue to shape how they feel and relate to others. You might be living with shame, fear of losing what matters most, unstable relationships, or the constant pressure of trying to hold everything together. Therapy can be a place to slow down, understand what is beneath these struggles, and begin healing not only behaviors, but the trauma and patterns driving them. Recovery and healing are about rebuilding safety, self respect, and connection with yourself and the people you care about. I also provide affirming care for gay and lesbian clients and offer a space where you do not have to hide or explain who you are. If you are ready to begin addressing what has been weighing on you and start creating lasting change in your life and relationships, I invite you to reach out today to schedule a consultation.

Treatment Approach

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Eclectic Therapy Draws from different therapeutic methods based on what fits each client best. It is flexible and personalized rather than following one single model.
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
  • Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
  • Experiential Therapy Involves hands-on activities to bring emotions into the present moment. It helps clients process feelings more deeply than through conversation alone.
  • Family Systems Therapy Looks at problems within the context of the family as a whole. It aims to improve communication and balance in family relationships.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) A collaborative, client-centered approach that strengthens motivation for change. It is especially effective for addictions and health behaviors.
  • Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.
  • Psychoanalytic Therapy Based on Freud’s theories, it explores unconscious conflicts and past experiences. It seeks to bring hidden issues into awareness.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
  • Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) Helps clients challenge and replace irrational beliefs. It is an action-oriented approach for lasting change.
  • Relational Psychotherapy Emphasizes the healing power of the therapist-client relationship. It uses trust and safety as a foundation for change.
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
  • Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
Approach Description: I provide a practical, supportive, but firm space for you to explore addictions and trauma, as well as your relationships. I'll push you when you need it but with respect and safety, so you can learn about yourself, find blindspots, and grow so you can heal, rebuild your relationships and self-esteem, and manage out-of-control behaviors.

Zach Ramsey Practice Description
When life feels out of control, it can show up in many ways. If you're here, you may be struggling with alcohol, drugs, pornography, or sexual behavior that feels difficult to manage. This can harm connection, your self-esteem, and your relationships. However, you might also be here looking for help with healing past wounds from past sexual experiences or relationship betrayals that continue to impact your sense of trust, intimacy, and emotional safety. For many of my clients, addictions and trauma overlap, while other times they stand on their own. Either way, therapy offers a space to slow down, understand what is happening beneath the surface, and begin creating meaningful change and healing. Our work in therapy focuses on both practical tools and deeper healing. This may include learning how to manage urges and triggers, strengthening boundaries, rebuilding trust in relationships, and developing healthier ways to cope with stress and emotions. It also involves processing painful experiences that have shaped how you relate to yourself and others, so they no longer control your reactions or choices. Relationship healing is an important part of the process, especially when addiction or trauma has created distance, conflict, or loss of trust. Therapy can help partners improve communication, repair emotional connection, and decide what healthy boundaries look like moving forward. I offer group therapy for men working through sexual addiction and intimacy concerns. Groups provide connection, accountability, and a supportive environment where recovery skills can be strengthened alongside others who understand the struggle. Finally, in my opinion LGBTQ affirming care is central to our therapeutic space, including support for gay and lesbian clients. Everyone deserves care that respects their identity, values, and lived experience. If you are ready to begin healing, rebuilding trust, and creating a life that feels more stable and aligned with who you want to be, reach out today to schedule a consultation.
