I believe that therapy is most powerful when it feels human, collaborative, and grounded in real life. My work is guided by a deep respect for the complexity of people’s experiences and the relationships that shape us. I am especially passionate about supporting adults and parents as they navigate stress, identity shifts, and the emotional challenges that often come with family life. With a background in both education and psychotherapy, I bring a developmental and neuroscience-informed lens to my work, helping clients better understand their emotional patterns and nervous system responses. My goal is to create a space where people feel genuinely understood, supported, and empowered to move toward greater clarity, connection, and resilience.

Treatment Approach

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
  • Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
  • Experiential Therapy Involves hands-on activities to bring emotions into the present moment. It helps clients process feelings more deeply than through conversation alone.
  • Family Systems Therapy Looks at problems within the context of the family as a whole. It aims to improve communication and balance in family relationships.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Jungian Therapy Draws on Carl Jung’s ideas about archetypes, dreams, and the collective unconscious. It helps people explore deeper layers of meaning.
  • Neuropsychology Examines how brain function affects thinking, memory, and behavior. It often involves assessment and rehabilitation strategies.
  • Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) Helps parents strengthen their bond with their child while learning effective strategies to manage challenging behaviors. Through live coaching, parents practice positive communication, set clear boundaries, and build a more supportive, nurturing home environment.
  • Play Therapy Uses toys, games, and creative play to help children express emotions. It is especially useful when children can’t fully verbalize their feelings.
  • Psychoanalytic Therapy Based on Freud’s theories, it explores unconscious conflicts and past experiences. It seeks to bring hidden issues into awareness.
Approach Description: My approach to therapy is relational, collaborative, and grounded in an understanding of how our nervous systems, relationships, and life experiences shape the way we think, feel, and respond to the world around us. I draw from attachment-based therapy, relational approaches, and neuroscience-informed practices to help clients better understand their emotional patterns and develop greater self-awareness and resilience. In our work together, we explore how past experiences, relationships, and current stressors influence present-day challenges. Therapy is not only about gaining insight, but also about building the capacity to regulate emotions, communicate more effectively, and create healthier patterns in relationships. When working with adults and parents, I often integrate psychoeducation about the nervous system and emotional regulation in ways that feel practical and accessible. For parents, this can include understanding children’s behavior through a developmental and nervous system lens, which can help shift family dynamics toward greater connection and support. My style is warm, curious, and collaborative. I aim to create a space where clients feel safe to explore difficult experiences while also developing tools and perspectives that support meaningful and lasting change.

Fees
  • Average Session Fee 225
  • Affordable sliding scale therapy: apply if you may be eligible.
  • I believe that access to quality mental health care should not be limited by financial circumstances. For this reason, I offer a limited number of sliding-scale therapy appointments for clients who may need a reduced fee. Sliding scale therapy allows the cost of sessions to be adjusted based on a person’s income and financial situation, making therapy more accessible while still providing the same level of care and support. Sliding-scale rates are determined through a brief, confidential conversation about financial circumstances and ability to pay. This flexible approach helps ensure that individuals and families who may be experiencing financial stress, changes in employment, or other challenges can still receive consistent support. Fees are agreed upon collaboratively and can be revisited if circumstances change. Because sliding-scale spots are limited, availability may vary. If cost is a concern, I encourage you to reach out to discuss options and determine whether a reduced-fee appointment may be available. My goal is to help make therapy as accessible as possible while maintaining a sustainable practice that allows me to continue supporting the community.

Jaclyn Epstein-Calvert Practice Description
I offer online therapy for adults, parents, couples, and families throughout California. My work focuses on helping people better understand themselves, their relationships, and the emotional patterns that shape their daily lives. Many of the individuals and parents I work with are navigating anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, parenting demands, or major life transitions and are looking for a supportive space to reflect, gain clarity, and create meaningful change. My approach integrates attachment-based therapy, relational work, and neuroscience-informed practices that help clients better understand their emotional and nervous system responses. By bringing awareness to both emotional patterns and physiological regulation, therapy can support greater resilience, improved communication, and a deeper sense of connection with oneself and others. I have particular expertise supporting parents and families raising neurodivergent children, including those with ADHD and autism. I help parents better understand their child’s nervous system, reduce family stress, and build more connected and supportive dynamics at home. At the same time, I work broadly with adults and couples who are seeking greater balance, insight, and healthier relationship patterns in their lives. My style is warm, collaborative, and thoughtful. I believe therapy works best when clients feel genuinely understood and supported while also gaining practical tools and new perspectives that can be applied in everyday life.
