At the core of my work is the belief that past and present relationships play a powerful role in shaping who we are. Therapy offers a unique opportunity to experience a different kind of relationship: one grounded in empathy, curiosity, and respect, where meaningful growth can begin.

Treatment Approach
- Multicultural Therapy Acknowledges the role of culture, race, and identity in mental health. It values diversity and adapts treatment to each person’s background.
- Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
- Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
- Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
Approach Description: I take an integrated, insight-oriented approach to therapy, blending psychodynamic understanding with a warm, person-centered style. I also draw on my experience as a yoga instructor to bring somatic awareness, helping clients connect with how emotions and patterns are held in both mind and body. In practice, this means exploring not just what’s happening in the present, but also the underlying experiences that may be keeping you stuck. I emphasize multicultural awareness, kindness, and empathy, and prioritize creating a space that feels safe, supportive, and genuinely collaborative.

I practice at Moonlight Wellbeing, a family-owned private practice I share with my husband, psychologist Adam Shafer, PsyD. Our philosophy, “We are not alone in reflection,” guides our work and reflects our belief that feeling heard and understood is central to healing. Through thoughtful listening and responsive, attuned care, we aim to help clients deepen their connection to themselves and others and feel less alone in their lived experience.
