Treatment Approach

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
  • Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) A structured therapy that uses guided eye movements to help process traumatic memories. It is widely recognized for treating PTSD and trauma-related conditions.
  • Family Systems Therapy Looks at problems within the context of the family as a whole. It aims to improve communication and balance in family relationships.
  • Feminist Therapy Addresses how gender roles, power, and social inequality affect mental health. It empowers clients to challenge limiting beliefs and systems.
  • Gestalt Therapy Encourages awareness of thoughts, feelings, and actions in the present moment. It helps people integrate different parts of themselves for wholeness.
  • Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Combines mindfulness practices with CBT to prevent depression relapse. It helps people notice thoughts without judgment and respond more calmly.
  • Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
  • Psychoeducational Therapy Provides education and coping tools about mental health conditions. It empowers clients with knowledge and practical skills.
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
  • Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
Approach Description: I believe that deep healing cannot happen in a clinical vacuum; it requires a genuine, human-to-human relationship. I consider myself a relational person first and a therapist second, meaning our connection is built on real warmth, collaboration, and equality. Because every individual carries a unique history, my practice is completely integrative. Rather than forcing you into a rigid, one-size-fits-all treatment plan, we work as an active team to customize our sessions, blending diverse modalities to specifically match your pace and emotional needs. To support this highly personalized care, I integrate several specialized, evidence-based frameworks. This includes EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to safely neutralize the emotional sting of past trauma, alongside somatic tools that help regulate your physical nervous system. I also draw from parts work and Emotionally Focused Therapy to quieten the inner critic and reshape how you connect with yourself. By combining these diverse approaches within a deeply supportive relationship, we create a flexible, fluid space where you are the ultimate co-author of your own healing journey.

Therapy Sessions Loralee Schultz Practice Description
Unprocessed emotional pain and systemic trauma can feel like moving through life with an incredibly heavy weight, making every single forward step feel exhausting. My virtual practice is designed as a collaborative, deeply compassionate partnership where your history is respected, not pathologized. We shift the focus away from traditional behavioral compliance or forcing you to match neurotypical standards. Instead, we explore how your unique brain-body system actually functions, gently unpacking the burdens you have been carrying so you can step into a lighter path. I pride myself on offering a modern, human-first approach. Because I am intimately familiar with the realities of navigating the world as a neurodivergent individual, our sessions will feel conversational, grounded, and entirely free of clinical pretense. This is a space where your intersectional identity, culture, and lived experiences are fully validated, allowing you to untangle yourself from childhood expectations and reclaim your personal autonomy at a pace that feels completely secure for your nervous system.
