Jourdan Brickey Self-Reclamation After Survival (She/Her)
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, MSW, LCSW
Online in North Carolina
(Online Only)
My work as a therapist centers on self-reclamation. The process of understanding how we become who we are through survival, responsibility, and relationship, and how we begin finding our way back to ourselves. Many of the people I work with are often highly capable on the outside but feel internally disconnected or uncertain about their needs, identity, or direction. In our work together, we explore the patterns that shaped you and begin building a life that feels more intentional, connected, and aligned with who you are today.

Treatment Approach
- Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
- Eclectic Therapy Draws from different therapeutic methods based on what fits each client best. It is flexible and personalized rather than following one single model.
- Gottman Method Couples Therapy Based on decades of research, this method gives couples tools to improve communication, manage conflict, and strengthen intimacy.
- Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.

Many of my clients aren't struggling because they're incapable. They're struggling because they've spent so long adapting that they've lost touch with themselves. At some point, survival can become so familiar that it starts to feel like your personality. They've built successful careers, supported families, navigated difficult relationships, survived painful experiences, and learned how to keep moving forward no matter what. Yet beneath the competence and resilience, there's often a quieter question: Who am I underneath all of this?
I specialize in working with women, nonbinary folks, and couples reconnect with themselves after surviving, caregiving, achieving, and carrying the weight of others. Many of my clients are thoughtful, high-functioning people who feel exhausted from carrying so much alone. Together, we’ll explore survival patterns, and build self-trust and emotional balance.
My approach is trauma-informed, relational, and culturally responsive. I believe healing is not about fixing yourself. It’s about understanding yourself. Therapy can be a place to reconnect with the parts of you that have been buried beneath expectations, obligations, and survival. You don't have to keep carrying everything alone.
