When you're experiencing emotional pain and finding it difficult to move forward, connecting with a trained professional is vital for your wellbeing. Each day, I'm committed to creating meaningful, positive transformation in my clients' lives. My primary goal is to genuinely understand you—your complexities and individual nuances. I provide practical, goal-oriented counseling grounded in respect for who you are, your distinctiveness, and your ability to heal and grow. Together, we'll clarify the changes you want to make within yourself; then, we'll work to turn pain into strength, challenges into wisdom, isolation into connection, and turbulence into peace. Treatment Approach

  • Biopsychosocial Therapy Takes into account biological, psychological, and social factors in understanding mental health. It looks at the whole person, not just symptoms.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
  • Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) Helps clients challenge and replace irrational beliefs. It is an action-oriented approach for lasting change.
Approach Description: Internal Family Systems (IFS), Gestalt/Existential, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I am also trained in trauma recovery using an approach to healing informed by the polyvagal theory (PVT) of the autonomic nervous system.

Matthew Reeves Practice Description
Overview: I work with adults seeking to address a broad range of mental health concerns. As we collaborate to create change in your life, I will center on your goals, your values, and your strengths. Approach: Many clients wonder what approach a prospective therapist will use to help them meet their needs. While I don't adhere to any single method or theory, I frequently utilize tools drawn from the Internal Family Systems model. I find this beneficial for so many people because it is compassionate, non-judgmental, and built on a core belief that, within each of us, lies the capacity to heal. I also incorporate narrative and existential therapy, as these frameworks emphasize autonomy and control. Additionally, I always honor the science of our nervous systems as described by the polyvagal theory of trauma and threat responses. Moving Beyond Coping: As I work with my clients, my aim is to help build a genuinely fulfilling life. It's not unusual for an early phase of this work to involve stabilizing emotions, disrupting harmful patterns, and fostering a sense of calm. This work includes developing an understanding of what's occurring internally and creating a toolkit for managing the most challenging symptoms. I believe that, too often, therapy concludes at this stage. While these coping skills are essential for moving forward, they are not the ultimate goal. We continue by transitioning to a mindset of creation rather than mere stabilization. We move beyond simply enduring life and into the realm of thriving in it!
