Add together truth, practicality, and yearning. Pull out an evidence-based toolkit, add a robust dose of woo, and together, we'll unpack what you're facing and craft a pathway forward, one where you'll feel equipped to handle what you're experiencing. I've worked as a therapist for more than a decade, most of it via distance platforms. I'm licensed in Colorado, Maryland, and California, which means I can work with clients across three states as they navigate life transitions, relocations, or simply need consistent support wherever they are.

Treatment Approach
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Hypnotherapy Uses guided relaxation and focus to access the subconscious mind. It is often used for habits, anxiety, and pain management.
- Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
Approach Description: Do you know the single greatest variable that determines your outcomes in therapy? It's not the training that the therapist uses. It's not the alphabet soup of theoretical orientation. It's not whether it's delivered via video platform, in-person, inside, or outside. It's not even the number of sessions you attend. It's the therapeutic alliance - whether there's a sense that I get you and you feel seen and heard and understood and supported and challenged and all the things that you were seeking when you sent the first email to set up the first appointment. Yes, I can tell you about the trainings I've attended (CBT, Coherence Therapy, parts work). I can tell you that diagnosis codes make my skin crawl (yet I do it for the paperwork). I can point to the decade plus since I completed my masters degree and the slew of settings where I've worked with clients (academia, mental health tech startups, private practice), but until we meet, we won't know if we're a fit. So, send me an email, and we'll see what we think.

Education: Golly, am I overeducated. I worked in higher ed for more than a decade, which I liken to an alcoholic working in a bar. The tuition benefit was so enticing to me. I have not one, but two masters degrees (Special Education for the first and Counseling and Career Development for the second).

Over-functioning, overthinking, and the legacy of parentification have many faces, and there's not a one-size-fits-all approach to finding relief. We can use a short-term approach with a focus on tools and tips, rather like a tow truck, to get you out of a rut. Another option is to take a more long-term rewiring approach (I call this process "updating your operating system" because many people operate using rules developed in their early years when they learned their worth came from being helpful, capable, and low-maintenance – and that sh*t just doesn't apply anymore). It made sense at the time, but if you're no longer the family's shock absorber, it's time for a software (and sometimes a hardware) update. Together, you and I will put together a plan to suit your needs and your hopes.
