I'm not your ordinary therapist. I have 26 + years of experience as a therapist, plus I have the life experience of a wife of 46 years, mother of two, and grandmother of four. I am the therapist that people come in and say, "Wow, you helped me more in one session than I got out of years with several other therapists." I am fun, direct, empathetic, but direct so that you can have the results you are looking for in a short amount of time. I love what I do, so it's not work to me. I'm very interactive in sessions so there won't be many times where I just sit there and don't provide feedback. I'm the type of therapist that will call you out on your stuff so I can help you meet your goals and have better relationships with others. I love talking with potential clients to see if I'm a good fit. After a phone call with me you will be able to get a sense if I'm a good fit for you. Please give me a call and let's chat!

Client Focus

Session Format: Couple, Individual sessions.
Age Specialty: Adult, Senior, Teen, Young Adult

Treatment Approach

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Eclectic Therapy Draws from different therapeutic methods based on what fits each client best. It is flexible and personalized rather than following one single model.
  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy Based on decades of research, this method gives couples tools to improve communication, manage conflict, and strengthen intimacy.
  • Imago Relationship Therapy Helps couples understand how childhood experiences influence adult relationships. It teaches communication techniques to deepen connection.
  • Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
  • Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) A short-term approach focused on improving relationships and social support. It is often used for depression and grief.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
  • Psychoeducational Therapy Provides education and coping tools about mental health conditions. It empowers clients with knowledge and practical skills.
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
Approach Description: I am trained in many evidence-based therapies and I like to integrate them and will use several approaches in a single therapy session, based on the needs of the client at the moment. My years of experience allows me to do this in a fluid way that feels like a natural conversation and not a clinical psychobabble conversation.

Norma J. Perez Practice Description
My practice is very laid back but highly interactive, if that makes sense. My goal is to help you figure out what is not working for you and how to help you get to a better place. I focus on finding solutions and teaching you skills to solve your problems in the future. I may have long-term clients, but I also have short-term clients. I want to teach you the skills to stay on track with who you want to be and what you want in life. I have a spiritual background that I bring into sessions when my clients invite it in. It can be a powerful tool when requested. I highly respect other's preferences and beliefs so I can meet them there where their beliefs lay. Many times I don't even bring it up. I leave it up to my clients to invite it in. In my practice I offer both individual therapy and couples' therapy, and I mainly work with adults, but I will work with older adolescents on a case by case basis. Many of my clients are professionals, high level executives, and stay at home moms. I love working with this level of intellect because it challenges me and keeps me sharp. I'm a life long learner and research geek. I love to explore new approaches to mental health, more so the mind/body connection and how to use food and lifestyle as mental health medicine to supplement therapy. There are always so many new fascinating discoveries and I love to share them with my clients. If what I have shared about my practice sounds like a good match for you, please reach out today.
