Michael Andrew Brennan (He/Him)

Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW
 therapist: Michael Andrew Brennan,
Online in Nevada (Online Only)
My work as a therapist has been intentionally eclectic. Over the years, I’ve supported people across many seasons of life and many kinds of struggle—youth in foster care, individuals in recovery, Veterans, families and couples in crisis, people navigating identity questions and spiritual emergencies, and individuals facing deep grief, trauma, and major life transitions. Clients often reach out when they’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, burned out, or stuck in patterns that no longer work. Others come in carrying grief, trauma, intrusive thoughts, or a sense of disconnection from themselves or the life they want to live. I also work with creatives who feel blocked, lost, or disconnected from their own momentum and meaning. I believe the most important factor in therapy is the quality of the relationship. My approach is grounded, conversational, and collaborative—focused less on correction and more on honest dialogue, presence, and making sense of your experience together. If you’re considering working with me, I invite you to explore my website (michaelandrewbrennan.com) and reach out. I take fit seriously, and I’ll only commit to working with you if I genuinely believe I can help you move toward your goals. Your time, money, and energy matter.

Treatment Approach

  • Contemplative Psychotherapy Combines mindfulness and meditation practices with modern psychology. It encourages awareness and compassion as part of the healing process.
  • Eclectic Therapy Draws from different therapeutic methods based on what fits each client best. It is flexible and personalized rather than following one single model.
  • Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
  • Gestalt Therapy Encourages awareness of thoughts, feelings, and actions in the present moment. It helps people integrate different parts of themselves for wholeness.
  • Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) A collaborative, client-centered approach that strengthens motivation for change. It is especially effective for addictions and health behaviors.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
  • Psychosocial Therapy Looks at how social and environmental factors affect psychological health. It emphasizes relationships, community, and resilience.
  • Reality Therapy / Choice Theory Focuses on present choices and taking responsibility for actions. It helps clients create more fulfilling relationships and lives.
  • Transpersonal Therapy Integrates spirituality and higher states of consciousness with psychology. It encourages growth beyond the individual self.
Approach Description: I take an integrative, eclectic approach that’s less about rigid techniques and more about what helps you most in the moment. My work is rooted in a person-centered, relational style, with influences from existential/humanistic therapy, Gestalt, psychodynamic therapy, contemplative psychotherapy, and transpersonal perspectives. Together, we explore patterns, emotions, relationships, and the deeper meaning beneath what you’re experiencing—at a grounded, human pace. When it’s useful, I also incorporate practical approaches like Motivational Interviewing and Reality Therapy/Choice Theory to support clarity, agency, and real-life change.

Michael Andrew Brennan Practice Description
I offer online therapy for people who want to be understood, not fixed. My approach is intentionally less clinical and more conversational—grounded in presence, honest dialogue, and making meaning together. Clients often reach out when they’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, burned out, grieving, or stuck in patterns that no longer work. Others come in during major life transitions, relationship strain, identity questions, or a general sense that something in life no longer feels aligned. You don’t need a diagnosis to begin—just a willingness to slow down and explore what’s happening. In our sessions, we slow things down. We talk and reflect. We pay attention to what’s happening internally and between us, and explore meaning, relationships, and the ways you move through your daily life. The goal isn’t a quick fix—it’s clarity, awareness, and grounded change over time. I also work with individuals preparing for or integrating psychedelic experiences, with an emphasis on grounding insight into everyday life. If you’re looking for therapy that is collaborative, reflective, and real, this may be a good fit. If you’re seeking highly structured, skills-only work or someone to tell you exactly what to do, this approach may not be the right match. I take fit seriously, and I’ll only commit to working together if I believe I can help you move toward your goals.
