Treatment Approach
- Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
- Biopsychosocial Therapy Takes into account biological, psychological, and social factors in understanding mental health. It looks at the whole person, not just symptoms.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
- Experiential Therapy Involves hands-on activities to bring emotions into the present moment. It helps clients process feelings more deeply than through conversation alone.
- Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) A short-term approach focused on improving relationships and social support. It is often used for depression and grief.
- Multicultural Therapy Acknowledges the role of culture, race, and identity in mental health. It values diversity and adapts treatment to each person’s background.
- Psychoeducational Therapy Provides education and coping tools about mental health conditions. It empowers clients with knowledge and practical skills.
- Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
Approach Description: Through warmth, acceptance, and encouragement I help my clients overcome painful past experiences and maladaptive coping that gets in the way of personal wellness, emotional health and success. I aim to foster flexibility, openness and connection to build each client a life worth sharing.

RO DBT is designed for people that struggle with over-thinking, trouble relaxing, rigid or inflexible responding, excessive self control, avoidance of feelings or expressing emotions, maladaptive perfectionism, and high levels of loneliness. People with over-control (OC) tend to mask emotional expressions, sometimes without even knowing they are. Many OC's have a high-attention-to-detail focus (other's behaviors or household or work tasks), and find they ruminate when things are uncertain or unexpected.
Overcontrol has been linked to social isolation, poor interpersonal functioning, hyper-perfectionism, rigidity, risk aversion, lack of emotional expression, and difficult to treat mental health problems including chronic depression/anxiety and personality disorders.
RO DBT is the only therapy that is specifically designed to treat overcontrol and works with client's unique biology (threat sensitivity and excessive self-control) to help with mental health issues.
