Our mission at Desert to Peaks Psychology is to support you through the peaks and valleys of life by providing collaborative, holistic, and evidence-based psychology and counseling services. Our therapists are person-centered, action-oriented, and grounded in authentic connection. We believe growth happens when our clients feel both deeply supported and gently challenged. We focus on creating space to process experiences while simultaneously helping our clients build new perspectives and take practical steps toward lasting change. Our team specializes in supporting individuals who appear capable or strong on the outside but are quietly carrying the weight of competing demands, high expectations, self-doubt, stress, burnout, or the persistent feeling that they should be doing more. Our team is well experienced working with anxiety, life transitions, demanding and high-stress careers, disordered eating and body image concerns, relational concerns, depression, and athletes looking for sports psychology services.

Treatment Approach
- Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
- Gestalt Therapy Encourages awareness of thoughts, feelings, and actions in the present moment. It helps people integrate different parts of themselves for wholeness.
- Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
- Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) A short-term approach focused on improving relationships and social support. It is often used for depression and grief.
- Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Combines mindfulness practices with CBT to prevent depression relapse. It helps people notice thoughts without judgment and respond more calmly.
- Motivational Interviewing (MI) A collaborative, client-centered approach that strengthens motivation for change. It is especially effective for addictions and health behaviors.
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
- Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
Approach Description: Our approach to treatment is person-centered, collaborative, and growth-oriented. We prioritize creating a space where you feel comfortable being fully yourself. Our clinicians show up engaged and present, meeting you where you are while helping you clarify what meaningful change looks like in your life. You can expect your therapist to balance support with thoughtful challenge, helping you identify patterns, beliefs, or behaviors that may be keeping you stuck. Drawing from evidence-based practices, your therapist may integrate practical tools to reshape limiting narratives, strengthen self-compassion and confidence, and build practical skills for you to use outside of your sessions.

Desert to Peaks Psychology was founded on the belief that, with support and perseverance, we can move through struggles toward new perspectives, growth, and meaningful change— pausing along the way to recognize moments of beauty and progress. Our therapeutic approach is warm, collaborative, and authentic. We integrate evidence-based approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and relational and attachment-based therapies. We intuitively blend these approaches help our clients shift self-limiting beliefs, strengthen resilience and self-compassion, and create meaningful change beyond the therapy room. Dr. Natalie Horn is the founder of Desert to Peaks Psychology. She has been in private practice since 2019, and is a licensed psychologist in Arizona and Colorado.
