I’m a clinical psychologist who works with adults, with a particular focus on men’s mental health. My style is straightforward and collaborative. I take an active role in sessions, offering feedback and helping you think through difficult questions. My aim is for our conversations to lead to a clearer understanding of yourself and useful changes in how you live and relate to other people.

Client Focus

Session Format: Individual sessions.
Age Specialty: Adult

Treatment Approach

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
Approach Description: I draw on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and behavioral approaches. We examine how you interpret situations and what you do in response, paying particular attention to habits that provide relief in the moment but create difficulties over time. Depending on your goals, we might test an assumption, practice approaching something you’ve been avoiding, or work on responding to difficult thoughts and feelings without letting them determine your choices. Your personal values guide the changes we pursue. Sessions can include working through current stressors and practicing different ways to handle them. We may identify something specific to try between appointments, then use your experience to decide what to continue or adjust.

Dr. Adam Sattler Practice Description
My practice focuses on anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship difficulties. Many of the people I work with hold themselves to high standards or feel responsible for keeping things running smoothly for others. You might spend considerable time thinking through a problem without feeling closer to a decision, struggle to relax without feeling unproductive, or find yourself repeating the same conflict at home. Relationship concerns are a substantial part of my work. These may involve communication, trust, closeness, or uncertainty about what you want from a relationship. Communication work can include becoming more assertive, understanding another person’s perspective, and responding effectively when you disagree. We may also explore boundaries and how much responsibility you take for other people’s feelings and decisions. Some difficulties become more noticeable during changes in work or family life. Others have been present for years, including the effects of past experiences that continue to shape how you see yourself and relate to others. A brief consultation gives us a chance to discuss what you’re looking for and whether working together makes sense.
