CBT-New York About Approach to Therapy
My therapy approach can be described as supportive, interactive, straightforward, challenging and motivating.
We work together to set goals, process emotions and memories, practice breathing and other relaxing and energizing yoga techniques. We work together to uncover your automatic thoughts, hidden core beliefs and assumptions and then challenge the negative or dysfunctional ones. I assign out-of-session homework and give you worksheets to help you practice communication and thought skills. I encourage clients to take notes and review them during the week between sessions. I offer reading material to support what we are working on in therapy.
My sessions have a heavy influence of positive psychology and we focus on well- being that extends beyond symptom relief. The focus is on developing positive attitudes and actions, creating a balanced lifestyle and motivating you towards achieving personal goals. We combine CBT with other forms of therapy: biofeedback, EMDR, and Yoga therapy (breathing, meditation, mindfulness).
