Emily M Bradley, Psychotherapist (She/Her)

Art Therapist, LCAT
 therapist: Emily M Bradley, Psychotherapist,
Online in New York (Online Only)
I specialize in helping people who always put themselves last, get better at prioritizing themselves. Do you keep it together on the outside while suffering with anxiety or depression on the inside? Do you put all your energy into making other people feel comfortable but can’t remember the last time you felt calm or happy? People pleasing, hyper-independence, overachieving, and conflict avoidance are really common survival strategies for people who had difficult childhood experiences. If this sounds like you, you probably already know that suppressing your own needs and desires can negatively impact your relationships, physical health, and emotional wellbeing. Maybe you’re beginning to realize this isn’t working for you anymore, and you’re longing to unearth a more authentic version of yourself. You might feel scared or think it’s impossible, but you don’t have to do it alone! I can help you explore the root causes through family dynamics, traumatic experiences, attachment, and identity, to discover and take better care of your true self. I have over 20 years of experience treating adults who are struggling with overwhelming emotions, life transitions, and difficult past experiences. My approach is warm, gentle, and trauma-informed. I’ll collaborate with you to integrate an insight-oriented framework with a variety of innovative holistic tools and engaging creative practices, based on your needs and strengths. Together, we’ll build a toolbox that you can start to use right away, while also cultivating insights for long term healing and growth. You’ll be in the driver’s seat, so you feel safe and empowered, so you can really own the work you do on your healing journey.

Treatment Approach

  • Art Therapy Uses creative activities like drawing, painting, or sculpture as a way to express emotions. It is especially helpful when words are hard to find.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Feminist Therapy Addresses how gender roles, power, and social inequality affect mental health. It empowers clients to challenge limiting beliefs and systems.
  • Ketamine-Assisted Therapy Combines low doses of ketamine with psychotherapy to treat depression, trauma, and anxiety. It can provide relief when other methods haven’t worked.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
Approach Description: We'll work together to craft a blend of approaches that works best for your needs and goals. My background as a creative arts therapist informs how I'm able to work with past traumatic experiences, identity, and getting to the root of emotional issues when words aren't adequate to express them. You don’t need any previous experience to do art therapy. It's not about painting a masterpiece, it's about using your whole mind to get to the root of the issue. By connecting the left and right halves of your brain, and your mind with your body, we can integrate difficult memories and emotions so that you are more whole, more at peace. I use mindfulness tools and traditional talk therapy as well as Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP). KAP is an innovative treatment modality that is proven effective for depression, anxiety, and trauma. I'm partnered with an organization called Journey Clinical, which is a specialized medical team that determines eligibility for KAP, prescribes ketamine lozenges, and supports me in monitoring outcomes. I believe that you are the expert in you, and my goal is to provide a safe space and gentle guidance as you dig deep and do the work of growing and healing.

Emily M Bradley, Psychotherapist Practice Description
Right now, you might feel like it’d be a huge, scary risk to ask for help, assert your needs, or set boundaries. But imagine someday looking back on this fear with a smile, honestly being impressed with your own growth, because taking these everyday risks isn’t a big deal anymore. I firmly believe we’re all born with confidence, courage, and inner resources that nobody can take away from you. Sometimes we lose sight of these resources, and that’s a natural reaction to experiences that are unnatural. But I can help you get back in touch with them and transform your emotional wounds into meaning and resilience so you feel more confident about your future. Finding a therapist who really clicks with you is one of the most important factors in successful therapy, so I always start with a free 15-minute phone consultation to make sure we’re a good fit for each other. If you feel ready to take the first step, email me to set up a call!
