Treatment Approach

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Eclectic Therapy Draws from different therapeutic methods based on what fits each client best. It is flexible and personalized rather than following one single model.
  • Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) A structured therapy that uses guided eye movements to help process traumatic memories. It is widely recognized for treating PTSD and trauma-related conditions.
  • Family Systems Therapy Looks at problems within the context of the family as a whole. It aims to improve communication and balance in family relationships.
  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy Based on decades of research, this method gives couples tools to improve communication, manage conflict, and strengthen intimacy.
  • Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Combines mindfulness practices with CBT to prevent depression relapse. It helps people notice thoughts without judgment and respond more calmly.
  • Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.
  • Neuropsychology Examines how brain function affects thinking, memory, and behavior. It often involves assessment and rehabilitation strategies.
  • Object Relations Therapy Focuses on how early caregiver relationships shape current relationships. It aims to improve patterns of attachment and trust.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
  • Play Therapy Uses toys, games, and creative play to help children express emotions. It is especially useful when children can’t fully verbalize their feelings.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
  • Psychoeducational Therapy Provides education and coping tools about mental health conditions. It empowers clients with knowledge and practical skills.
  • Relational Psychotherapy Emphasizes the healing power of the therapist-client relationship. It uses trust and safety as a foundation for change.
  • Sandplay Therapy Uses sand trays and miniature figures to allow symbolic expression. It is especially helpful for children and trauma survivors.
  • Schema Therapy Identifies deep-rooted negative patterns formed in childhood. It combines CBT, attachment theory, and experiential methods for change.
  • Self Psychology Explores the development of self-esteem and identity. It emphasizes the importance of empathy in healing.

Lincoln Park Psychology, Inc Practice Description
Lincoln Park Psychology offers services for adults, children, adolescents, and families, and couples/partners. Each client is a human with unique strengths, abilities, and challenges and we work closely with you to assess your specific needs, set attainable goals, and help you reach your potential. We strongly value each client's history, personality, culture, values, and needs. Our clinicians are skilled at working with a variety of presenting issues including: mood disturbances, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, family conflict, social struggles, OCD, grief and loss, fear, trauma, Autism Spectrum Disorder, career stress, young adult transitions, self-image issues, identity building, and many others. When working with children, we are committed to incorporating parents/caregivers into our goals. Once a week meetings with a clinician are not going to change the child as a whole. It is important to get the major systems of the child's life involved in helping to attain our goals. Parent coaching, family therapy, and at-home interventions are a few of the ways that we collaborate with families when working with children. When working with adult individuals, we work along side you as you make changes. Yes, we listen closely and it is important that clients feel heard; however, what is the point of having this training if we only listen? We use our expertise and our gifts to listen in a way that allows us to point out patterns, themes, behaviors, thoughts, and tendencies that may be resulting in a life not lived to its fullest. It is our belief that this is a collaborative effort between the client and the clinician to make meaningful change through self-awareness, insight, and skill building. In addition to individual therapies, we are often running several group therapy workshops out of our office. Group therapy can be a powerful tool in change, and we take advantage of having such a wonderfully supportive environment in which to promote this change in our clients. Neuropsychological, academic, personality, and Autism testing is another important puzzle piece that we can provide in office. We have several clinicians who conduct these types of assessments, and we collaborate as a team to gather information that informs treatment plans, develops new goals, boosts self-understanding, and confirms strengths. LPP is dedicated to comprehensive, practical, ethical and enjoyable therapy practices. We are excited to help you on your journey to the best you! Let's have some fun on the way.
