Linda Schartman, MA LPC (She/they)
Counselor/Therapist, Licensed Professional Counselor
I provide affirming care and focus on keeping clients safe and reducing (or even eliminating) harm. I do not support "gender ideology"; instead I use evidence-based practices based on staying current with research about best practices for saving lives. I specialize in working with adults who are "othered" or outcast. My theory is based in identifying the stories we are told/we have lived and retelling/ living new stories that suit us better. I guide you-mind and body-to make this happen through a blend of narrative therapy, somatic work, and cognitive/dialectical behavior therapy. I also incorporate social justice and spirituality (extremely broadly defined) in my work. Often clients appreciate my focus on diversity, and understanding of the deep-seated pain associated with invalidation of identity and challenges assocated with socioeconomic factors, as I got a masters in sociology before my masters in mental health counseling.

Linda Schartman, MA LPC Practice Description
Would you benefit from extra support and guidance to develop and actualize your preferred life story? Give yourself the gift of therapy to rediscover yourself, remember and create a better life. I can help you get back on track with your hopes and dreams, or even just explore a bit to search for a better path. My focus is the power of the stories we are told and that we tell ourselves. We can take control of life by identifying these stories and adjusting them to suit our own purposes. My practice offers empowerment by incorporating your identity (on all levels; in every shape, form, and variety of expressions), culture, and values. Part of you remembers a better day and hopes for more good days. If you are open to it, I incorporate art and writing in our work together. My services are personalized to you and, in this way, transformative. I accept OHP Open Card, Yamhill Community Care, CareOregon, Intercommunity Health, Trillium Community Solutions, Western Oregon Advanced Health, and Private Pay.
