Mark Brower-Herbert (He/Him)

Counselor/Therapist, CCC
My goal is to work myself out of a job. I want to help you build the skills, insight, and confidence you need to navigate life’s challenges long after therapy ends. Whether we’re working on relationships, coping strategies, or understanding your internal world, I focus on practical, meaningful change that you can carry forward into your daily life. Therapy with me is collaborative and grounded—I’m here to support you, challenge you when it’s helpful, and help you move toward a life that feels more connected, intentional, and resilient.

Treatment Approach

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Christian Counseling Blends psychological practices with Christian values and scripture. It provides faith-based support for life challenges and spiritual growth.
  • Gestalt Therapy Encourages awareness of thoughts, feelings, and actions in the present moment. It helps people integrate different parts of themselves for wholeness.
  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy Based on decades of research, this method gives couples tools to improve communication, manage conflict, and strengthen intimacy.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) A collaborative, client-centered approach that strengthens motivation for change. It is especially effective for addictions and health behaviors.
  • Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.

Therapy Sessions Mark Brower-Herbert Practice Description
I work with individuals and couples to better understand the challenges they’re facing while building on the strengths they already bring. Together, we develop practical tools and strategies to manage stress, improve communication, and create more fulfilling relationships. In my work with couples, I use the Gottman Method, a research-based approach that helps partners communicate clearly, navigate conflict more effectively, and strengthen emotional connection. We look not only at areas of struggle, but also at where you’re already doing well, using those strengths as a foundation to rebuild trust, friendship, and intimacy. In individual therapy, I draw on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help you connect with what matters most to you and better understand your thoughts, emotions, and internal patterns. We’ll explore the strategies you’ve developed over time—recognizing the ways they’ve helped you, while also identifying where they may no longer serve you. From there, we work toward developing more flexible, effective ways of responding to life’s challenges.
