I see counseling as a process in which you, the client, and I, the Counselor, collaborate in exploring, defining, and improving current situations which cause distress or hinder you from living a full and healthy life. We will work as a team to systematically develop plans for and realize future goals, and I will offer support as you continue toward greater empowerment and wellness. I have training and experience working with a wide array of clients varying in race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, and ability. I work with couple and family systems as well as with adolescents and adults coping with trauma and other crisis situations, self-esteem issues, interpersonal issues, stress and anger management, mood disorders, work related issues, and athletic performance. I have extensive experience assisting the staff and management in employee related issues including but not limited to police involved shooting, and other work-related trauma. I view the counseling relationship as one built on trust, where teamwork is a must. I look at six fundamental drives (needs) within each person that compel their behavior in a quest to experience a life of meaning. I choose techniques that fit each client’s beliefs and needs individually, and will be the most beneficial to them. Some but not all are Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Anthetic Therapy, Gottman Couples Therapy, Trauma Informed Therapy, Mindfulness and Attachment Based Therapy, and Coaching.
