I’m Emma Stenton, a dedicated counselor and Death Doula based in Coquitlam, BC. My passion lies in supporting individuals through some of life’s most profound and challenging experiences — grief, loss, chronic illness, and end-of-life transitions. I believe healing happens when we honor the whole person — mind, body, and spirit — and create space for authentic expression and compassionate care. With a background in grief counseling, death doula services, and Reiki energy healing, I offer an integrative, trauma-informed approach tailored to each client’s unique journey. Whether we’re working through anticipatory grief, caregiving stress, or spiritual crises, I walk alongside you with empathy, respect, and a commitment to your well-being. My goal is not only to help you navigate pain and loss but to gently guide you toward rediscovering joy, hope, and meaning in your life — regardless of the challenges you face. Through secure, online sessions, I strive to make healing accessible and safe, helping you find resilience, peace, and renewed purpose — no matter where you are.

Treatment Approach

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
  • Gestalt Therapy Encourages awareness of thoughts, feelings, and actions in the present moment. It helps people integrate different parts of themselves for wholeness.
  • Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
  • Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
  • Psychoeducational Therapy Provides education and coping tools about mental health conditions. It empowers clients with knowledge and practical skills.

Stenton Counseling and Healing Practice Description
At Stenton Counseling & Healing, I integrate a range of evidence-based and holistic therapeutic practices to support the unique needs of each client. My approach is deeply rooted in compassion, respect, and the belief that healing encompasses the mind, body, and spirit. Grief Counseling: Grief is a complex and deeply personal journey. I specialize in working with individuals experiencing all types of grief—including anticipatory grief, disenfranchised grief, ambiguous loss, and bereavement. Through a client-centered, narrative approach, I help clients explore their stories, express emotions, and find new meaning in the midst of loss. We work together to gently navigate the often non-linear process of grief and foster resilience and hope. Death Doula Support: As a trained death doula, I provide compassionate, holistic support to individuals and families facing end-of-life transitions. This includes emotional presence, practical guidance, and spiritual care tailored to each person’s beliefs and wishes. I assist clients in preparing for the dying process with dignity and peace, and support loved ones through grief and caregiving challenges. Integrative and Trauma-Informed Therapy: My counseling integrates cognitive-behavioral techniques with existential and narrative therapies, offering tools to manage anxiety, reframe unhelpful thoughts, and explore life’s bigger questions. Trauma-informed care ensures a safe environment where past wounds can be acknowledged and healed without judgment or pressure. Reiki and Energy Healing: To complement talk therapy, I offer Reiki energy healing, a gentle hands-on technique that promotes relaxation, emotional balance, and physical well-being. Reiki supports the body’s natural healing processes and can help clients release stress and trauma held in the body. Online Counseling: Understanding the need for accessibility and comfort, I offer secure, confidential online counseling sessions. This allows clients to receive professional support from their own space—whether at home, work, or elsewhere—removing barriers like travel or mobility challenges. Commitment to Clients: I am committed to walking alongside you with empathy, patience, and non-judgmental presence. Healing is a unique and personal journey, and I tailor each session to your pace and needs. Together, we explore pathways not only for coping with pain and loss but also for rediscovering joy, meaning, and connection in your life—regardless of circumstances. If you’re ready to begin or continue your healing journey, I invite you to reach out and schedule a consultation. Healing is possible, and you don’t have to do it alone.
