Trauma and PTSD
Counselor/Therapist, MBACP (Accred)
I have a particular interest in working in a trauma informed way and am committed to ongoing CPD specialising in this field. I am continuing to study this with a level 5 certificate in CPTSD currently. I may also use an IFS approach if this is appropriate and provide psycho education in relation to the autonomic nervous system, 5 f's, amygdala, triggers and encourage clients to practice the opposing relaxation responses, starting with basic breathing exercises which are the bodies' natural calming response.

Trauma and PTSD
Counselor/Therapist, BA Hons, IMTTA, Heartmath Coach
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) therapy, known as PTSD Counseling or Trauma Therapy, focuses on addressing the psychological aftermath of traumatic experiences. This therapeutic approach is vital for individuals who continue to struggle with distressing symptoms such as flashbacks, nightmares, hypervigilance, and avoidance behaviours long after the trauma has occurred. I include science-backed treatments like heartmath heart coherence techniques, cognitive processing therapy (CPT), and prolonged exposure therapy to help clients process and integrate traumatic memories, reduce symptoms, and regain a sense of safety and control in their lives. Giving a compassionate and effective path towards healing and recovery for those impacted by PTSD. I guide individuals to get a better understanding of the emotions attached to past trauma and PTSD so that they can begin to change these emotions that are currently stifling their lives. Taking them through a science-backed process that enables them to quieten the volume of the trauma and replace it with better, more focused on present emotions

Registered Psychotherapist, M.Soc.Sc.; BA (Hons); PostGrad Dip; H.Dip.
Traumatic events can be very difficult to come to terms with. But confronting your feelings and seeking professional help is the recommended way of treating PTSD. It's possible to treat PTSD many years after the traumatic event occurred. This means it's never too late to seek help.
Psychotherapists and counsellors can be helpful to work through trauma and what it means to you and as a way to help you rebuild your life. One of the most important aspects of trauma is recognising that life has changed and our old ways of looking at the world sometimes don’t seem to make much sense anymore. Sometimes we have to rethink the ways in which we live our lives and what is important to us. We need to take time to reflect on what we have learned from our
experiences. Working with an experienced counsellor or psychotherapist can give us the opportunity to do this.
Also, trauma sometimes has the potential to be a springboard for something positive. In the aftermath of the struggle with adversity it is common to find benefits. People often report that their values change in such a way that they have learned to live life more fully, or that they appreciate their family and friends more, or that they feel themselves to be in some ways wiser, more mature, and stronger as a result of their experiences.
