Maria T. Alonso, Ph.D.
Psychologist
I take a compassionate and supportive approach to help indiviudals navigate the complex emotions involved in the process of a divorce. Using evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I assist clients in managing overwhelming feelings, reframing negative thoughts, and developing effective coping strategies. My approach is collaborative, meaning I work closely with clients to set goals that align with their values and needs, fostering a sense of agency and empowerment. For those with children, I place a strong emphasis on maintaining a stable and supportive environment for the family. I guide parents in addressing their children’s emotional needs while managing their own, using techniques from family systems theory to improve communication and co-parenting. By combining empathy with practical strategies, I help clients work through their emotions and focus on creating a positive and constructive path forward for themselves and their families.

MJB Wellness LLC
Hypnotherapist, Certified Hypnotherapist and Coach, Certified Sexological Bodyworker, Sex Educator, Certified Reiki
While I don't specifically advertise as working with divorce, I do work with issues that often end in divorce and have done a number of workshops and online talks around couples and communication. In fact, for therapist who work with couples, the number 11 issue is lack of communication. Again, understanding consent, boundaries, and relationship dynamics is key to resolving couples issues. I trained in a protocol called Couple's Hypnosis where I hypnotize a couple together, take them to a place of complete honesty, openness, and lack of judgement and then pose a series of questions to each in turn to get the truth of their feelings around certain issues. If the couple has the willingness and courage to engage in this exploration it can lead to amazing insight in healing. Unfortunately, many clients don't have the courage to embrace honesty. I also see many clients post breakup and divorce who can't get past the loss of their partner and continue to obsess and mourn longer than is healthy. For these clients I am able to use hypnosis to break the hold their ex has on them and help them move on.
